yep that's what my female JRT did. Every time it zapped her she did this crazy bark/howl thing and jumped. The citronella was the stuff that worked. And as a bonus, it doesn't hurt the dog at all and it actually smells ok.
My brother bitched out of crate training Abby. We will be living in a 4 bedroom house so she will basically get the run of the living room during the day when we move in. I'm pretty sure someone will be home at all times to let her out, but if not, she is really good about holding it. The only issue is her getting into our stuff and chewing up a shoe or something.
I used the citronella on Redford briefly and it worked until he figured how to bite it off and destroy it.
haven't been to the thread in a while. saw my responses to neutering question. probably gonna get baxter chopped this summer. not gonna breed him so need to take a little of that extreme energy and the little bit of aggressiveness he has away (he growls at random females that try to pet him. wouldn't ever bite but just scares them). And even with the deduction of energy, he'll still be a high strung MFer. was out of town on friday and came home pretty late and he had no food. pet store was closed. went to cvs and got the only food they had there - some cheap shit. just to hold him over until noon saturday. baaaaad move hombre. has had 3 diahrea shits in my living room since then. thank goodness it's hardwood and I can just mop it real quick. hopefully it was just him having an extremely weak stomach and passing that shit food and not something else making him shit soup
I just switched our dogs food from Beneful to Purina Pro Plan. They love the new food so much and no runny shits.
We used the citronella on Truman because he just wouldn't calm down in his crate when he was left alone. It worked for a couple of days. We came home and he was barking like crazy. I thought maybe I forgot to turn it on, but then I felt under his chin and was soaked. The little fucker figured out he could bark it empty....
Wife and I had a panick attack this weekend when our 3.5 year old dog had a full blown seizure in front of us. She appears to be fine now, but it was apparently triggered by the OTC ear mite medication we had been giving her. Anyone else ever had any similar issues?
only place they sell it here is Publix and Petsmart. Both of them were closed and homeboy was hungry howling at me and ish. next time I'll just give him some bread instead of some random cheap ass dogfood to hold him over for a night
My old roommate had a Lab and would give him cereal when he was in a pinch and out of dog food. That dog had an iron stomach though.
psssh I don't have the luxury to run out of dog food, because there is only one place I can actually get his food from and it comes in limited shipments so they don't even have it all the time.
Grains are terrible for dogs, don't do that. Check out the ingredients list on your food, if the first three mention grain or anything other than a meat product, preferably not meat by-product, then you should consider switching. Blue buffalo is where it's at. Kate seriously has the most beautiful, softest coat of any dog I've ever seen. And thats not just me saying that out of pride. Well, maybe it is a little.
Sheeeeeit. you wanna talk about soft coats. Promise I have the smushiest dog on TMB. He doesn't do so well with "wet" food. Rice would probably be the best option. or just go get another bag of food when the last one is low...
haha nice. definitely different type of coat than kate has. she has that double, water-proof coat. her topcoat is gorgeous golden red, and seriously the softest fur ive ever felt on a long hair dog. i cant imagine walking in the door without seeing this smiling face every day.
haha I used to be able to wave a treat at Murphy and say bed and he's sprint back there and lay down. He's figured that trick out though and is a little more stubborn about it now.
It's just a static discharge. It doesn't feel good but it's not like the zap would run all over the dog's body instead of just jumping from the contact to the body. If you've ever held one it's like dragging your feet across the carpet and giving someone a good shock. Unpleasant but definitely safe as can be.
Check out this Bulldog I saw at the vet today ... Never seen anything like it. Owner said very few exist in the United States (think he said 20), they paid $5,500 for it
Extra large stick (read: log) in my back yard? Hilarious to watch him work on this pine branch that fell in our yard. Definitely makes some noise when he drops it on the deck! Edit: This was not staged... somehow he put that thing exactly where you see it. I would never have thought of that.
i feed my rottie and cocker blue buffalo. it's a great food and cuts down on the poop frequency. plus their coats are shiny and their overall health is better.
We met a dog on a walk this morning. A puppy pit bull ~ 3 months. Poor thing was so malnourished she had lost most of her hair and the guy who had her, found her dumped in a parking lot covered in motor oil. The guy is nursing her back to health and she seems to be doing ok. I just don't get why you would dump a dog you don't want in a parking lot somewhere when you can easily just bring it to a shelter.
I honestly can't comprehend how it would even be possible for someone to do that to a puppy and just leave them to die. A being that helpless, I really can't understand how it could be done.
Can TMB dog lovers give Dakota some likes? Please http://www.kimptonhotels.com/services/pet-photo-contest/gallery.aspx
I check the D'awww, Motherfuck dogs are awesome, and this thread religiously every day because it makes me smile.
