Can't pass up a bargain. Doubt I paid for any 2 bottles what a new bottle would cost. Same for my AoS soaps. I did exactly what I said, bought them off some lady whose husband left (by her lawyer's request) and she sold off all his shit. But I do like to make it rain. My stockpile of unused ar15 receivers and 30 round pmags is damn near hilarious at this point.
So I've been looking for a vanilla scented cream, haven't found one so I decided to look into the custom route from QCS. 34.50 per tub if you're interested in a custom scent.
I'll think about it. I really like what QCS does, which is why I'd pay more for a tube or tub of their stuff, but that's how that goes. I'm actually a little surprised someone out there doesn't already make one.
if anyone has been wanting to try out cella shave cream its on sale right now on italianbarber for 8.99. http://www.italianbarber.com/cella-shave-cream-150g
Started wet shaving last week, liked it so I decided to shave off my beard for the first time in around 6 years (was only shaving the neck beard) only to remember I look goofy without a beard.
Suck it up and use a cartridge for a couple days. Mail a couple of blades to your destination ahead of time. Put them in your bag and live dangerously and see what happens. If you want to stay single blade this cartridge is recommended: http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Gillette-Guard-Cartridge-Razor_p_1136.html
Mystic Waters has a few lime varieties: http://www.mystic4men.com/ Lime, Lavender Lime, and Coconut Lime Verbena. Might be worth picking up some samples, I get a nice lather out of mine. Mikes Natural also has a lime: http://www.mikesnaturalsoaps.com/Mikes_Natural_Soaps/Shaving_Soaps.html
I have some of the Mike's lime and while I love it (I am a big fan of Mike's) its more of a lemon/lime scent than just lime IMO. I'd be happy to slice off a small piece and send it to anyone that wants to check it out though.
blades are a no-go. would have to buy blades at a walgreens...then throw away what you dont use. i use these: they are the only single blade disposable i know of thats available in all the stores in the US.
Been contemplating purchasing some target stocked product. But I have 7 creams in just my travel kit.
If you are thinking of an adjustable, my recommendation would be the progress. Haven't tried the Futur and a lot of people like it so I am sure it would be fine. But the progress...specifically the mergress is hard to beat.
Just placed my wet shave kit order. Guess we'll see how it goes. I get pretty bad neck razor burn if I shave every couple of days so hopefully this helps. Van Der Hagen Men's Luxury, Shave Set Merkur Model 180 Long Handled Safety Razor Double Edge Safety Razor Blade Variety Pack - 100 Blades
got both+some samples. my sample game is getting out of hand. got T&H, GFT, 10 QCS samples, and now some Mystic water and Mike's.
Im about to pick up my first set. Have not tried this yet but it sounds awesome. Here is the first setup I think im gonna try. Thoughts? Definitely get an alum block and some soothing aftershave. I use this stuff and it has made a huge difference.
i cant remember why we started getting the de89 other than we knew it to be quality and the price was right. but i dont know if its more recommended or simply.."everyone else was doing it"...Once the few few chose that, it became a "well it worked for them" thing.
A styptic pencil is needed to stop bleeding from small cuts and nicks too. You can get that from the pharmacy though if you want.
Ill add that too. Do you have any other suggestions besides the Geo F trumper. 40 bucks a bottle is a little much for my first go at. Thanks
love the osma, if you travel a lot I found a place that sells it in a travel pencil form. this has annoyed me a little bit as well. I think it is just that so many people are doing it they want to go with the consensus. But on the plus side its somewhat idiot proof. I have the baxter of california version which is basically a muhle 89 that is the same as the EJ 89. Personally I really like to get people started with the Parker 22r because it's head is almost identical to the old gillette tto's.
I use kiss my face moisturizer. you can get those a lot of places for 4.99 ish. i go bloc osma baxter of california after shave wipe face with warm water smear on kiss my face rub in with ice cubes.
I suggest the De89 over the 34c (which I started with) because it's milder but mainly because Merkur really fucking sucks these days. Their plating process is subpar compared to what it used to be and they will blame your water, your soap, and your techniques. If it wasn't pot metal like old Gillette's who are brass then it would be fine. Unplated pot metal will rust mid shave. In general, if you have the money, I'd go Weber over either of those. Their DLC is top notch and even if it does fail there's stainless steel below. Or buy an iKon and be done with it.
StandUpDrunk I ordered the exact same stuff when I got started. Even the same exact sample pack of blades
Get a sample of it. Or get a sample o t&H balms. Or go with something at the drug store that doesn't stink. They have plenty that will get you starte.
I love the merkur with a sharp blade,it's a great everyday for me...I have the 1904 so handle is different. I use it with yellows. I'll work in other razors when growth is heavier, but the 1904 with a yellow is a my base.
Theres a million good ones out there, so far Ive only used Trumpers skin food and Captain's Choice Bay rum. Thats why this shit is so fun/addicting, cause theres just so many good products and you want to try them all. A little bit depends on your skin type from what Ive read. If youre needing some moisturizing along with soothing, a balm sounds like a good option. Proraso supposedly makes a good one that shouldnt be too expensive. If you have more oily skin, a splash aftershave may be good to try out at first. That Mantic59 guy really knows his stuff and he seems to really like this ursa major stuff. Im definitely going to try it soon. http://www.amazon.com/Essential-Fac...TF8&qid=1359665588&sr=1-4&keywords=ursa+major
Dude I know. Ive had these in my cart for a week now mixing and matching. I was about to click submit and I checked back here. Saw that the captains choice had vanilla and citrus in it so im going with that one. How did you like it?
I got a bottle of QCS aftershave and it's great, and only $10. T&H is still the best I've used, but at 1/4 of the price QCS is fine with me.
I love it. It also has glycerin in it which helps to not dry you out from the alcohol. Here is a good writ up. This site has a lot of other good reviews. http://www.shaving101.com/index.php...s/279-captains-choice-bay-rum-aftershave.html
