Have one similar, and also didn't want 3d. It's pretty solid and a nice upgrade from an older LCD model. Is there any instance when a plasma tv is preferable any more?
Phil Weston, I dont have that same LG panel (I have the 3d version and prob one step better, the quality is mindblowing for this price point.
having bought at the medium and now low end models (47LM4600 for $550) I am really excited for the main tv upgrade ill make that will probably be Q4 2013. Im expecting to be able to buy a real 120hz panel 55" at maybe $750 from Samsung or LG. hopefully 4k gets adopted and sends current 1080 models down (in due time).
anyone ever bought from amazon warehouse?? thinking about one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...=&coliid=&condition=used&me=&qid=&seller=&sr=
I checked this tv out and it wan't very good. The picture was worse than the other tv's in the 6000 series to me and even though I didnt want 3D or a smart tv I had to pay for those features if I wanted the best picture quality for what I was willing to pay. I went with this one instead. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung - 46" Class - LED - 1080p - 120Hz - Smart - 3D - HDTV/4835032.p?skuId=4835032&id=1218540191137#tab=overview I will add that even though I didnt want a smart tv it is still pretty cool. I hooked my wireless mouse up and browsed tmb some this afternoon.
If I am going to buy a TV, I am going to do it in the next 5 days from Best Buy....in the 55 inch variety..... Panasonic ST-50 ($1300) or Samsung ES7100 ($1500) The research begins
Need help with an LG tv issue. I recently inherited a fairly new LG smart tv. It is only a couple of months old but the mother fucker keeps turning off. When I first got it, it was in the bed room because I had a Samsung in the den. When I figured out the LG would fit in the entertainment cabinet I made the switch. Now, after I turn it on, it cuts off. Sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after a few seconds. Sometimes it does it once or twice and then is fine sometimes 10-15 times and then stops. Has anybody had this problem? It didn’t seem to do this when I had it in the bed room hooked up to basic cable. Now it is running through a home theater system, which handles cable xbox, etc Some friar juggs research says it could be a power supply issue or overheating. Overheating doesn’t make sense because after the on/off thing it works until I turn it off for the night/extended period.
Just got a 42" Vizio for my bedroom. Pretty much loving it so far. -120hz -1080p -smart tv $520 with shipping from walmart IMO
as soon as i turned mine on it went through the set up configuration, showed all the networks it picked up, and i just had to select mine and put in the network key.
That is how I am leaning. I am reading some stuff over on the AVS forum and they are saying that the VT50 is $1599 now at BB.com(same as it is on Amazon) but I see a price of $1999 on BB.com. If I could get the VT50 for $1599 that would be another option as well.
If the 55VT50 is on Amazon for $1599 right now, I'd scoop that shit up immediately if you are even the slightest bit interested in it. That's crazy good. Plus you also get 2% cash back in the form of an Amazon gift card, so that's like another 30 bucks. If you have to get it at BB, go there and see if they will match.
I was getting ready to do that. Chatted online on BestBuy.com and they said they are price matching amazon until the end of the month. Have to do it in store or over the phone. Went and checked amazon and it was back up to $1999.
Yea...like I said, pretty much have until the 2nd to buy something (that is when Best Buy sale ends). And the price matching amazon ends at the end of the month. This is nail biting
Unless you're really into brightness get the Panasonic. Looks fine normally and blu-ray is very, very good. I cant think of many times to watch TV in a bright area anyway.
same here. worked exactly how a computer would. I talked to some guy about the 7100 and asked him how much better the 240 hertz is compared to 120. He told me it doesn't make a difference for regular tv but helps out a lot for 3d.
So today is the day I need to buy something if I am going to price match Amazon. All Panasonic Plasmas are the same price on Amazon and BB.com except for the ST50.....it is $100 cheaper on Amazon Either way, the Best Buy sale ends on Saturday.
just broke down an ordered a new Panny 65VT50. Couldn't resist the current sales, got it from Paul's TV for 2500. It's the consensus best TV of the past year and, for anyone interested in the deal, Paul's has a SAVE500 coupon you can use right now to get it down to that price. Stock's running out in most other places, Amazon doesn't have it anymore.
I'm a long time Panasonic plasma fanboy. This will be my 4th (42 to 50 to 58 now to 65). Still have the other 3 in use, though the 42 will now get relegated to storage. Makes these kinds of big purchases easier since I view them as so low risk knowing I'm getting a fantastic TV.
Welp, my local Best Buys are all sold out of any of the Panasonic Plasmas I would purchase. Looks like I will have to go with Amazon.com to purchase a TV which sucks because I have $300 in BB gift cards. Having something that big delivered to my house makes me a little uneasy
Nah it's great. I'm pretty sure they offer white glove delivery with any of the Panny Plasmas you are considering. From Amazon: "Enhanced Delivery For this TV, we offer enhanced delivery through one of our specialty shippers. A representative of a common carrier will deliver your TV to any room suitable for testing, unpack it, ensure that it is working properly to guarantee no damage occurred during transportation, and dispose of all packaging material. Yea I saw that. I think I am going to wait until the summer to get a TV Bottom line is I don't have anywhere to put it right now. I will be living with my parents for a few months since I just got a new job. Hope to buy a house in the next 5 months....that is where this TV would be going, so until then, it would just be sitting in the box. Plus I want to buy at Best Buy due to the gift cards and I want the 0% financing option since I have a BB CC
Buy right when the 2013 models come out or just before then. That's when places will be trying to clear their inventory of 2012 models, and you'll get the best price. That will be sometime in the spring. If you wait until summer, you won't be able to find many 2012 models anymore, and all of the 2013 models will still be close to their release date prices. Just my experience.
In the market for a new TV- Any differences between. 50,55,60 inch screen besides size and price? what brands to stay with? I've only had Sony but open to anything quality.
A 60" is a whole lot larger than a 50" than you would think. 52-55" is a pretty good size tv. for simple maths sake, a 48" TV is 4x the size of a 24" TV. (size measured by viewing area, not pixels)
I have a VT25 and the only thing, that I can see, under the picture controls was "blur reduction". I have it turned off.
What's my better option: Samsung 46" LED 1080p 60Hz at $579.99 or 51" Plasma 1080p 600Hz at $699.99? Upgrading from a 32" Samsung, not sure whether LED is worth sacrificing size and Hz.
the plasma is bigger and almost always has the better picture and won't look like a blurry mess during motion in sports. Unless you're setting up the TV opposite a bright light source like a window, I'd go with the plasma, but you may have to arrange things for reflections. If reflections are not an issue at all, no question I'd go plasma.

So my roommate's moving out, officially in the market for something in the living room. Looking to go big. This is what I currently have in mind, saw it at Best Buy and it is looks amazing: http://www.sears.com/samsung-55inch-class-1080p-240hz-slim-3d-led/p-05729904000P A little on the expensive side, that's about the most I'll spend. Thoughts? I'm looking at 50'-60'
