Shit, its 75% talent if not more. If you have it, your a good coordinator. If you don't, you do not have a job. Jacksonville is so talent deficient right now that most any coach is going to look like a bum. That being said, Bradley was partly responsible for assembling the talent in Seattle and made some tweeners and weird pieces fit. Before that he was the LB coach in Tampa when they had the best LB corps in the league. He has done a very good job coaching. We will have to see how good a leader he is. That's the key. The Jags did not go out on a limb with the hire though. Many in the NFL thought the guy would make a good head coach.
Like SF said, I'd be wary of Gus (and the Seahawks D) being a product of Carroll. That and the Seahawks ridiculous draft game.
I get your point but you could say similar things about any coordinator. He'll be a good coach if he's a good leader and the GM finds him talent.
I'm not really of the opinion that success or failure as a coordinator is a good indication of whether or not someone will be a good NFL HC. Just want to see solid talent evaluation, surrounding yourself with good coordinators, good leader, earn respect of the players, etc.
I agree. And not that it sheds much light on the situation, but Gus Bradley was with the Seahawks a year before Pete Carroll was. The numbers weren't good in that year. Obviously a lot of it has to do with personnel and the time it takes to implement philosophies, etc. I guess as a Seahawks fans I'm not worried. Jags fans may have a good one that learned from PC, or they may have a mediocre coach that benefited from PC. He is supposedly a very good motivator, though.
Well praise has to be given when half of our defensive starters were drafted in the last 3 years. It takes a good amount of coaching to get that young of a defense to produce like they did on a consistent basis.
He coached DL for Seattle before becoming the UF DC. Oh, and UF had the best defense in college football last year, despite no noteworthy bookend.
Per the Twitter machine, the Jags want to interview Pete Carmichael for the OC position. He was the OC for the Saints this season and is not currently under contract.
Outstanding Press Conference. Now time to see if it translates into wins. I know this isnt groundbreaking, but I think we are going to have a huge roster makeover this offseason... 30+ new guys on next years roster, similar to the colts this past season.
Pops store on San Jose is having a huge tent sale with the Jags this weekend. Jags gear will be 60-80% off. Everything else in the store will be 50% off. Just blowing through inventory with the new line coming out this year. Figured someone here might be looking for a jacket or polo or something.
Heard we're getting a new logo, too. No idea on the changes. Anyone heard anything? If true, we'll definitely see it before the draft bc it would be on the new draft hats.
Looks like clipart. I guess they wanted more white with the black unis coming? Either way, looks like shit.
I for one love the new logo. Not a jags fan, but if you change your name to the Ocelots I'm on board.
He's OK, much better in previous years than last year. Especially in the pass blocking department where he wasn't very good last year. Most people were glad to move on instead of paying him what he wanted. He's solid though
I'm assuming he was brought in here to start, but even if Bowanko beats him out we needed depth there anyway. Who was the black guy that we started the year with last year? He was the fucking worst.
I thought Brewster started early? Might be confused idk. Edit: It was McClendon. I'd blocked him from memory.
Bowanko played pretty well last year, so it should be a good battle. Wouldn't surprise me to see wiz push beadles for a starting spot, however. Supposedly, he had a torn labrum last year which may have contributed to his less than stellar play. Still want us to draft a tackle to give joeckel some competition, as he was mostly terrible last year.
Definitely yes on bringing in another tackle. Parnell can play either side apparently as well so even if we find a RT that we think can upgrade us we should go for it.
Jag fans will have quite a presence at the Bucs game this year. I can't believe that they sold them this block, which will be featured heavily on TV.
Didn't think there could be a worse nfl gameday experience than a jags game, then I went to a bucs game.
