Spoiler yes and no. it was because the crones (or whatever) punished his wife for losing the kids, the spirit rescued. and she died because of the curse. then old Baron bear decided to take his own life.
Spoiler I didn't go this route. If you do, is it ever confirmed what the tree spirit is? Do they give any more background on it?
Spoiler i'm not done with the game but seeing that i'm close and nothing has been mentioned since id say its safe to say no. it takes the form of a horse and frees the children and kill the city. thats pretty much it.
about to get to level 23, feel like i'm getting pretty high up, get a diagram for a level 43 sword. damnit.
I kind of think that level limits on gear is lame. I have all these diagrams / ingredients for shit I can't wear yet. Also, for all the backstory and world building in this game, they could give a description for the named pieces of gear that tells you why it's called that. Baldurs Gate used to do that and it was awesome. These are my only gripes about this game so far, everything has been stellar otherwise.
Spoiler i freed the spirit and Baron is still alive in my game. I freed the spirit bc fuck the crones. Barons wife lived in my game. I made all decisions with the Barons feelings in mind bc he was my boy
Spoiler From what I've read, if you go to Crookback Bog before officially getting the quest assigned to you, and free the spirit before it officially starts, you can free it and the Baron will live.
Spoiler not sure, i found the spirit before i talked to the crones and left it there. Talked to the crones, the. Maybe freed the spirit and went and got my reward from the crones taking no shit from them (might have prevented the wifes death here) then went and did the baron stuff. Buried his child and found info on his wife and daughter. Then met baron to attack the crones and free the wife. His daughter showed up with witchslayers. We then fight shit and free the wife, shes crazy as fuck so the baron takes her somewhere to cure her. Never see them again[/spoilers]
Spoiler Spoiler Yeah if you free spirit after doing the botchling the crones get pissed and when you go with the Baron you find as punishment they have cursed Gran into what looks like a drowner/water hag hybrid. Once you fight the fiend and other enemies you go into that underground basement in the barn where you find curse dolls and only one breaks the curse, the rest make her burst into flames. If you pick the right doll you go back up to them, and she changes back but still dies peacefully while the Baron and his daughter cry. Next time you go back to Crow's Nest you find the Baron has hung himself.
Haven't played in about a week and a half the Steam sale kinda side tracked me, but I'm off all week after Monday so
I took off for a week or so. Been playing the past few days trying to finish off all these achievements. Have two left. The hit box is total shit in this game. This headshot achievement is bullshit.
Level 12, just made it to novigrad. Fully tricked out in Griffin school gear. Are the best swords in the relic class or the Witcher school class?
I was pretty skeptical about Gwent when it was first introduced in this game but I came around quick. It's one of the more fun things to do. I'm still early on (only level 5) but I've been crushing it in Gwent. I've only lost twice, both to the Baron before beating his ass and then embarrassing the boat maker. I did feel a little bad about running up the score on that retarded kid, Haddy, though. My Northern Realms deck is somewhere around 106. Is that pretty comparable to what everyone else's was when they were around my progress? I don't have enough cards in any of the other decks. Is there a consensus best deck?
I guess its just whatever you prefer, I like Nilfgaard for the spies, I like Scoia'tel the least. Monsters are kind of like a rush deck almost. Northern Realms and Nilfgaard are what I stuck to.
What level are people beating this game at? I'm at level 22 and it seems like there's no way I could level up into the high 30's before this game is over.
I think I have some schematics for shit that you have to be like level 37 to put on. I'm never going to get close to that.
I have diagrams for level 42 and 37 swords, both look bad as fuck. Level 14 now, still in Act I Novigrad. Have Skellige left before Act II starts. I am really taking my sweet time though, trying to do all the side quests. Not sure if this is about the level people are at when they do this part or not.
I ended up level 36, did most every side mission, every contract, uncovered all question marks in Velen and Novigrad, not Skellige though, fuck sailing/swimming for all those.
I'm level 24 and I have no clue how close to finishing I am. Can't imagine how many hours yall have put in at level 36....
At 31 now and just got done with all the contracts, treasure hunts, and side missions. Time to start to do the question marks
