I had the version you clip to your pocket and my wife had the watch one. Neither of ours lasted six months before they would intermittently turn on and off and generally be a flakey nuisance. I didn't replace mine because I like living the chunky life and my wife weighs 95 pounds and she was just wearing it to see how far she was walking every night in the hospital.

After about a week I got clued into what It felt like to have 10k steps under my belt. In about 3 months I realized diet was 90% of weight loss for me. My job keeps me moving. Overeating keeps me :nomnom:.

Bought some tights yesterday, excited to see how they feel on squats. I'm closing in on one of my long-term goals so I'm hoping they give me an extra boost, not so much making me any stronger but with keeping my knees and hips feeling good so I can do more work.

Random exercise I love that I never see anybody else doing is one-arm upright DB rows. I do them standing and just slightly hunched over, and it gives me a very nice stretch and squeeze for both my side and rear delts. It's a bit more comfortable on my shoulders than lateral raises

It's an awkward feeling workout for me whether I'm standing or at an angle laying on a bench. I put very little direct work on my shoulders. I've lost size, but being able to sleep comfortably and not regretting all the wear-and-tear when I'm 40 is worth it

To no one's surprise, Russia is suspected of rampant doping.
    http://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/34765444
Russia should be banned from athletics competition, a World Anti-Doping Agency commission report has recommended.

Wada's independent commission examined allegations of doping, cover-ups, and extortion in Russian athletics, which also implicated the IAAF, the sport's world governing body.

It also wants five athletes and five coaches to get lifetime doping bans.

The report also identified "systemic failures" in the IAAF that prevent an "effective" anti-doping programme.

In addition, it states the London 2012 Olympics were "sabotaged" by the "widespread inaction" against Russian athletes with suspicious doping profiles by the IAAF and the Russian athletics federation.

Wada commission leader Dick Pound says Russia seems to have been running a "state-supported" doping programme.

Lord Coe, president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, said these were "dark days for the sport" and added that it faced a "long road to redemption".

    What are the key findings?
The report's co-author, sports lawyer Richard McLaren, believes it shows "a different scale of corruption", even compared with the ongoing Fifa scandal, saying actual results at international athletics competitions had been changed because of cheating.

    The report also:

    • Revealed many instances of inadequate testing and poor compliance around testing standards.
    • Recommended that Wada withdraw its accreditation of the Moscow laboratory as soon as possible and that its director, Grigory Rodchenko, be permanently removed from his position.
    • Found that a number of Russian athletes suspected of doping could have been prevented from competing at the London 2012 Olympics had it not been for "the collective and inexplicable laissez-faire policy" adopted by the IAAF and the Russian athletics federation.
    • Suggested that neither the Russian athletics federation (Araf) the Russian anti-doping agency (Rusada), nor the Russian Federation can be considered anti-doping code-compliant.
    • Confirmed allegations that some Russian doctors and/or laboratory personnel acted as enablers for systematic cheating along with athletics coaches.
    • Identified the intentional and malicious destruction of more than 1,400 samples by Moscow laboratory officials after receiving written notification from Wada to preserve target samples.
    Which doping scandal is this?
The report was commissioned on a "very narrow mandate" to "determine the accuracy" of allegations made in a German TV documentary about Russian athletics last December.

It claimed Russian athletes paid 5% of their earnings to domestic doping officials to supply banned substances and cover up tests, while athletics' world governing body the IAAF was implicated in covering up the abuse.

The programme's claims of widespread doping were made by former Russian Anti-Doping Agency (Rusada) official Vitaly Stepanov and his wife Yulia (nee Rusanova), formerly an 800m runner who was banned for doping.

While former discus thrower Yevgeniya Pecherina said that "most, the majority, 99%" of athletes selected to represent Russia use banned substances.

Pecherina is currently serving a 10-year doping ban that is due to end in 2023. Another banned athlete, Liliya Shobukhova, who won the London Marathon in 2010 said she paid the Russian Athletics Federation 450,000 euros (£350,000) to cover up a positive doping test.

The documentary also included an undercover video purporting to show 800m runner Mariya Savinova, who won gold at the 2012 Olympics in London, admitting to using the banned steroid oxandrolone.

The commission was not asked to examine separate doping claims made in August when The Sunday Times and a German broadcaster claimed leaked blood tests from 5,000 athletes over 11 years showed an "extraordinary extent of cheating". The IAAF said the claims were "sensationalist and infuriating".Wada is investigating these claims separately.

    What happens next?
It will now be down to Wada to implement the report.

Although the commission has no power to act on its findings, the report's co-author McLaren told BBC World Service he wanted to see the recommendations adopted.

"It certainly means that you have to change the governance structure significantly and probably the doping regime and how it's administered," he said.

When asked about the possibility of kicking Russia out of international competitions, Lord Coe told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek on Sunday that his instinct was "engagement rather than isolation".

Speaking of doping, Bulgaria may not have a team at the Olympics. They still haven't paid the fines from 9 athletes testing positive this year.

Have to go see the sports doc on Friday. I am having some discomfort in my right biceps all the way from under my armpit to the elbow. There is one line that feels like a tightly strung guitar string. My hope and my thought is I have some super bound-up junkie soft tissue that needs to be released. it seemingly came out of nowhere, but I've been dealing with it since Friday night. Haven't lifted since last Wednesday, and won't until I get this checked out. Furk. Set up another appointment next Thursday in case I need to see him twice. Last time I went to see him for my shoulder about 18 months ago, he worked miracles with active release. Hoping the same happens this time. With this and the wedding/honeymoon, I'm going to have to start back at lighter weights for sure come December 2nd.

dear diary, pray for me, etc...

I am fairly sure I pulled something doing cable fly (which is frustrating because I randomly decided to throw them in as an accessory because I rarely do them). Will know more tomorrow but I imagine I will not be lifting upper body for several weeks. I'll try to work around it best I can and will still get my lower days in. Sucks, but such is the life of a lifter I suppose.

Decided to video again today since it was pretty empty so figured I'd share. 205x5 front squats, I've done this weight before but my legs were still pretty beat after maxing on Monday. First three reps were solid but the last two I felt like I pitched forward quite a bit although video doesn't make it look as bad as it felt. Have a competition coming up on December 5th and feeling pretty good after testing all of my numbers from last time we had this thing in February

Pretty much, but I never felt anything that day. Nothing hurt at all. It wasn't until 2 nights later when I layed down to sleep that I felt how tight it was. It's weird. I can run my finger along the section from my armpit all the way down my biceps on the short head almost to the elbow and feel it. Super tight and a strand is noticeably raised.

Just got back from the doc. Diagnosed as a bad strain/slight tear in the short head of the biceps. He used the graston technique on me in addition to some active release. The graston technique was not the most comfortable thing I've sat through. When your skin turns red it indicates soft tissue dysfunction. At first, he wasn't hitting the right spot, but once he got on the actual injured fibers, fuck... shit made me a bit squirmy. Looked down after and fucking arm was red as hell. It breaks up the scar tissue and promotes blood flow. I have another session next week and he thinks with that and a couple more weeks of rest, I should be good to get back into it.

Thankful it's not really serious and hopeful the recovery is as he thinks. One thing I noticed was that even when he wasn't on the injured section my arm was turning a bit red. I am going to do a more diligent job with soft tissue work on the foam roller/lacrosse ball.

Oh, and I'm 99.7% sure I injured it doing cable flys. First time in ages... just wanted to get some accessory work in. Kinda pisses me off.

Disclaimer: I use the word competition loosely because it's nothing big so my numbers aren't what you'd expect for a normal comp. I'll open squat at 325 and in my overly optimistic view 340 isn't out of the question. Bench I'd like to hit 250 which I did in February and DL is the same boat because I got 450 last time but don't know how realistic that will be
