I basically use vats if I have a bunch of fast moving enemies close me and I just want to make sure I don't miss. Otherwise I can kill shit quicker and more reliably without it. Also, the laser crank musket is the shit in this game, especially if you have the non auto rifle + damage perk. Crank it up to full, mow someone down, get behind cover, rinse repeat.
-Loot anything and everything. If your inventory is full, go drop everything off at your settlement. You'll need tons of parts as you get further through the game so keep everything. -Pick one or two weapon types to specialize in. (I like non auto pistols, as they use tons of different ammo types so you're not scrounging for ammo all the time, and you can upgrade them so that they're good at short or long range) -Perks to upgrade your armor and weapons are very very good
Another question....how do I upgrade my power armor? Am I supposed to loot other NPC's power armor when I kill them? Dumb question I'm sure...
You can do it at the power armor station. You just need the components like anything else. You can also get better pieces of power armor later and swap them out. Edit: Either at the station or at a regular armor upgrade hub. I forget which.
You can upgrade it when it's docked on the power armor station in your settlement, you use most of the same components that regular armor and guns use to upgrade. I have like 25 fusion cores somehow so I'm about to just stay in my power armor for a while. I'm about to upgrade my power armor to the highest level as soon as I unlock the Armorer perk rank 4.
Yeah the best I've seen so far is T60 or whatever. Got one from the National Guard Armory I think? And when you start the BoS storyline
Yeah I just found a couple random power armor suits laying around that had a couple better pieces on them
They were cluttering up my inventory so bad, so they had to go. Also, this game seems way more difficult than fallout 3 or NV. I love it.
Max out your intelligence. Each point of intelligence is worth ~10% bonus in EXP. Then romance a companion and hit the bed with them for an additional 15% EXP boost.
Also Sentry bots drop 2 fusion cores when you kill them. I noticed the one outside Cabot House respawned so that's an easy way to farm them I guess if you need some.
Yeah, but you can't romance the robot. Or the dog. I feel like you, of all people, need to be informed of both of those.
Not sure what is going on here... I'm trying to build the recruitment radio beacon and it has to be done at the drive in theater. I can build the beacon in Sanctuary, but obviously I can't walk the beacon down to the theater. When I'm in sanctuary it says I have more than enough crystal but then when I leave my crystal count falls to 1 and I need 2. I'm trying to figure out if it's my game or if I'm just dumb.
You realize to do it you need 1 free settler and the ability to hit the R1 trigger on your controller?
i'm romancing the reporter this game is hard as fuck. has anyone beaten the lost patrol (early BOS quest)? super mutants are doing unspeakable things to me i kind of wish there were more dialogue options with companions. i liked the companion quests in NV
Powered through this with very few problems. I'm level 15 (no clue what you are), used the legendary laser rifle I got from one quest (higher crit I think?), used the super upgraded pistol I picked up, and used a hunting rifle (plus single shot rifle perks). Mutants were horrible for awhile but now they are cake. Not sure if thats me or perks or what
Preston sucks pretty hard. He just takes forever to fire. I'm using piper with power armor and gave her a flamer and molotovs, and now she's damn near unstoppable.
Should we spoiler companions? I don't want to spoil who I'm using for someone that hasn't met him yet Spoiler mr Valentine
There's companion quests. Did one just a bit ago. You have to get your companion to idolize you I think.
Idk i got a companion who hated my every move unless when i lockpicked stuff and i got a quest from that npc.
maxed affinity with preston a few days ago, got a pretty neat ability for it but i'm pretty sure i have to keep using preston for it to be active. i've since moved from preston to piper > cait > valentine
Going to go get Nick Valentine tonight. My understanding is he can pick master Locks if you ask him to
I've used paladin Danse since picking him up, offensively he is the best one I've found. Valentine can hacks computer terminals of any level as well, cait also picks locks.
Didn't know if there was a spot inside of the pipboy that just listed all of the companions available to you and their like/dislike of you.
Also I'm stupid and didn't realize the passive income you receive from shops is located at the workbench where that shop is located.
