In all reality it is Schwarber that is replacing Fowler in the line up. Heyward is probably moving over from right to Center and will yield time there to Almora while Zobrist moves between right and 2nd. Javy at 2nd and super IF sub for rest days. Jay being added at 8M on a 1 year deal is a depth move.
So my mom just moved into a new condo a week ago. Apparently Kyle Schwarber lives two units down from her.
Buster Olney talks about going after Shohei Otani next year (insider article) Spoiler At a time when players with great platoon splits -- one way or the other, versus left-handers or right-handers -- have increased value, the Cubs signed Jon Jay, a hitter who was good against lefties (.308 average) and righties (.282) last year. Jay’s one-year, $8 million deal is low risk, and what the former Cardinal and Padre might provide above all else is positional flexibility, which will be important as the Cubs adjust for the use of Kyle Schwarber, Jason Heyward, Albert Almora Jr., Jorge Soler and others. The Cubs could have gone after one of the pricier bats in the market, but there is already heavy expectation that Chicago is holding its dollars for something bigger -- the cost of restocking the pitching, for example, and perhaps a potential run at the multitalented Shohei Otani, the MVP of Japan’s Pacific League. A star pitcher and designated hitter, Otani will be the most sought-after player next winter, and rival executives believe the Cubs will be all-in on that pursuit when the contracts of Jake Arrieta and John Lackey are set to expire. The Cubs are prepared to move on without Dexter Fowler. Almora and Jay could split time, writes Steve Greenberg.
There is a Cubs 5k run that I am going to register for if any of you guys want to meet up and run together let me know. Think my wife and daughters are going to walk it together. http://www.race-cubs.com/ Race Date: Saturday, April 29, 2017 5K Race Time: 8:00 a.m. Race Location: Wrigley Field Beneficiary: Cubs Charities The Chicago Cubs will host the 12th Annual Race to Wrigley Charity Run, presented by the Club’s Legacy Partner, ATI Physical Therapy, Saturday, April 29, at Wrigley Field. Race participants will again see and experience the Lakeview neighborhood along the course route before entering the concourse through the Budweiser Bleacher Gate on Sheffield Avenue and crossing the finish line steps away from the Wrigley Field Marquee. The ballpark route will feature Wrigley Field tribute statues, newly painted murals and the opportunity to run through the Friendly Confines. Proceeds from this year’s race will benefit Cubs Charities, which provides increased access to sports opportunities and targets improvements in health, fitness and education for those at risk. Cubs Charities will donate proceeds from personal fundraising to support Advocate Children's Hospital. The first 100 people to fundraise $500 will receive a baseball autographed by a current Cubs player so start fundraising today! When you run, your community wins! Thank you for helping us support Chicago's kids.
There's probably little chance otani-san is posted next year so it's just Olney being vague and putting two and two together (Cubs likely let arrieta and lackey go and will have loads of cash)
If Jay can go back to his Cardinals day and post .350-.370 OBP's, he'll be fine as a poor mans Dexter Fowler.
Ive ran this race a few times. Fun run, but running through the gangway @ Wrigley with a bunch of other runners is tough. It's really musty and tough to get through. Soldier Field run is awesome and you actually get to run onto the field. It's a 10 miler though.
So I have a story to tell. That night, I spent a ridiculous amount on merchandise, including two signed baseballs by Bryant and Rizzo. The next day I cancelled half of my order, including the baseballs. I get my clothes and then a few days later a baseball arrives. I see the box and where it's from and instantly realize they've made a mistake. So I check my order, still says those items were cancelled and showed as $0.00. Hmmm. Check my credit card account, nothing new on there. Hmmmm. Open up the box and they sent me a completely different baseball signed by just about the entire team, authenticated and everything. This is the ball: http://www.mlbshop.com/Chicago_Cubs...ed_World_Series_Logo_Baseball_-_20_Signatures I'm currently waiting for someone to email or call and ask for it back.
I would be like Ben Affleck in Good Will Hunting telling the story in the bar about his uncle and the cop car. "Bitch, I have never seen you in my life"

Came to post this. Definitely think we should take a chance on him. With how our coaches have turned around other guys, I'd like to see what they can do.
Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick 39s39 seconds ago Our http://ESPN.com winter meetings roundtable: My intrepid prediction -- Chris Archer traded to the #Cubs.
It would be hard to get good value in getting Archer back, Rays will not be selling low regardless of last season.
I still make the Chapman trade 100/100 times but continuing this trend of giving up assets for closers is going to get real old real fast. Hope this isn't Soler...I don't mind dealing him at all but for reliever with arm troubles...give us Duffy too lol Bob NightengaleVerified account @BNightengale The #Cubs will have their third closer now in five months once they finalize Wade Davis deal with #Royals
Yeah I'm a huge Wade Davis fan but he's coming off a forearm injury and he's an expiring contract. Gonna be right back in the same spot next offseason with less organizational depth.
I'd rather save our assets and roll the dice on Holland. Both dominant closers for the Royals. Both coming off of an injury. My buddy who works for the Royals said Davis makes him nervous. That's a little unsettling to me.
