Yeah that's really dumb. There's gotta be another way to get more tickets for bigger groups. A limit of 4 is not nearly enough. A family with 3 kids wouldn't even be able to attend a game together.
Joe confirms that Schwarber is going to lead off, with Zobrist leading off when Schwarber sits. How do you feel about that? I like Schwarber leading off, but we'd need someone to step up and handle clean up duties. Anyone want to take a crack at how many different lineups we have this year? My crack at opening day roster: 1. Schwarber LF 2. Bryant 3B 3. Rizzo 1B 4. Zobrist RF 5. Contreras C 6. Baez 2B 7. Heyward CF 8. Lester SP 9. Russell SS When Schwarber sits: 1. Zobrist LF 2. Bryant 3B 3. Rizzo 1B 4. Contreras C 5. Baez 2B 6. Russell SS 7. Almora CF 8. SP 9. Heyward RF
I would prefer Zobrist leading off with Schwarber batting 2nd or cleanup. If we're hitting the pitcher 8th hopefully Joe bats Heyward 9th but I doubt it.
I don't think he will be (can be?) as bad as he was last season. He has a history of bouncing back from bad seasons, like the ones he had in '11, '13, and '16.
Yeah, if Russell keeps up his progression he will be in the top of the lineup by the end of the year.
Cubs extend Strop for 2018 with club option for 2019. Numbers unclear right now but appears to be 5.85 mil in 2018 with 6.25 mil club option in 2019 with 500k buyout.
It's amazing that a Major League Baseball player can get it a tattoo that looks that terrible but I guess this is the same guy who got the MLB logo tatted on the back of his neck. Hope he saved room for future titles. #baezenvy
Also I'm a little upset that no one has commented on the corny thread title in here or especially the MLB thread. Maybe I'll change it to That's Cub. #thatsCub
I mentioned this a while back, but I'll b coming to Chicago in September to see the cubs play on a Friday afternoon, before heading to south bend for the UGA game on Saturday. I'm looking at cubs tickets and trying to figure out the best value since there are so many seat options. Any advice on the best moderately priced seats/section? Edit: my buddy really wants to sit in the Budweiser bleachers, so that's what I got.
I'm with your buddy. Assuming you're attending that Friday game vs the likely non-competitive Brewers, soak up the experience. It's general admission so buyer beware at $65 a ticket.
So it's just first come first serve in the entire section? Do people get there super early to reserve seats?
Yes, it's first come-first serve and gates open 2 hours in advance. Season ticket holders in the bleachers get early admission. If you plan on pre-gaming, I'd get to Murphy's Bleachers around 9:30. And then cross the street (bleachers have separate entrance) around noon.
Hey Cubs friends. I'm coming up July 21-23 for the Cards series weekend and I got more tickets than I need. If you need tix (I think they're sold out essentially) I'll sell them at cost instead of messing with stubhub
Happ and Eloy both homered again. Happ's swing is so pretty http://www.cubsinsider.com/2017/03/11/watch-ian-happ-lauches-another-homer/
One of the guys I follow on twitter said Happ has the quickest bat of all the prospects. Pretty excited to see his development.
I've seen him pitch full games twice, a couple relief appearances, and watched many highlights. Games I watched he sat 95-97 touched 98-99. Dominant fastball, dominant splitter that could make for top level closer material right now. Big hook on a mid 70's curveball that could potentially be ++ but lacks consistency right now--looked like he played with a bit and was gunned anywhere from 71-77, didn't always locate it. He threw a slider as well, it wasn't a dominant pitch like his other offerings but also plus potential there. Will be the top arm available next year if Kershaw doesn't opt out. My time evaluating Buckeye dick does not detract from my time evaluating Japanese dick.
Happ is tearing it up but I can't help but think he never plays a game for the Cubs. I don't think they move Eloy for anything, so he's their best trade bait if they want to acquire a starter over the next couple of years.
Yeah. Ideally, he gains enough helium at Tennessee that he can headline a trade for a starter in July.
