Cubs finish the year with only 1 game fewer than Baltimore of 0 or 1 run scored. Need a new hitting coach this offseason.

 

It's not the hitting coach, it's the hitters.

Chili Davis was new this year and we saw much of the same tendencies as the prior years. Need more maturity out of the guys.

 

Yeah, that's what happens when Bryant misses much of the year. He alone would have made up most of that.

 

Ok and why are the Red Sox way better?

 

I'd guess the addition of JD Martinez and his 43 HR and 130 RBI made a bit of a difference.

 

I think it's fairly obvious Chili Davis sucks.

 

Chili didn't make a bunch of our dudes forget how to hit homers.

 

The only difference from last year to this year is power. Bryant has been injured and Willson's power has evaporated.

Not to mention, as a side note, Schwarber has been pretty awful this year.

 

With as many injuries as the club had this year and how bad we hit the ball at times I'd say they did pretty damn good to end up 95-67.

If we had a healthy Darvish, Marrow, Strop, Bryant for most of the year they probably win around 100 some games and today doesn't happen.

 

So under the assumption of zero injuries you would win more games?

 

No the change in approach did that. There have been numerous quotes from our players talking about the adjustments.

 

Yep, did you know that if you get the better players you win more games too.

 

If we got scherzer, Kershaw, Sale, Trout, and Bets we would be even better.

 

The Darvish, Chatwood, and Heyward deals make that pretty cost prohibitive

Nope. Schwarber has had the worst season in regards to high leverage at bats. 2 hits (singles) in 56 at bats. No way you go with him there

 

Heyward has been a much better hitter than Schwarber this year.

 

Bryant never comes through in these situations
