Howard has already won less than 20 games in two of his first three seasons. Izzo has only done that twice in the last 18 seasons.

Just realized this current outburst from Sparty probably is less about Izzo and more about their assumed heir apparent, Dane Fife-Goebbels, being outed as a Q-supporter

I think Fife and his recruiting evaluations, including prioritizing two kids that played at his HS that didn’t have the athleticism necessary to play, is significantly to blame for our current teams inability to play basketball. I think we’re all happy he’s not affiliated with us at this time
I am not thrilled about the state or direction of the program, but do want to note that this Michigan State team basically played to its preseason ranking and expectation. I do not feel that this year's team (or last year's team for that matter) underperformed in the tournament. They were both shit rosters from the beginning for the reasons mentioned above. I hope the staff plans on being far more aggressive in the portal as I think there are a few solid pieces on the roster currently. I also recognize that we are probably going to be in the NIT every other year after Izzo leaves. I hope he gets back to a final 4 level, but if he doesn't this is still likely better than the alternative.
If even half of what's being said about his year with us is true, people won't be beating down his door any time soon to offer a job.
That last paragraph is stupid. They will not only make the tourney 50% of the time post-Izzo and I would bet Vinegar Strokes life on that.
Yeah that’s an awful take. If Michigan can make it going less than .500 against power 5 conference teams, than we should have no issues making the tourney.

I think it could be similar to post-Knight Indiana or post-Weber Illinois. Indiana is right at 50%, Illinois is below over the last decade. Many good programs with established coaches have missed multiple tournaments in that time period. 50% may be understating it a little bit, but it's harder to keep things humming like that than it seems at face value, even if we hire a good coach after Izzo which is far from guaranteed
It's very odd to me that B1G posters on here generally get along in the football thread unless Iowa is involved, but the basketball thread is a free for all of non-rent paying hate. Is it because basketball in the league is actually competitive while OSU has just destroyed the collective will of football fans?
no. It’s because Michigan has been irrelevant in football for the past 15 years (outside of this past season). So all their fans just hide on their team board all season. basketball program has been the 2nd best program in the B1G the past 15 years (behind MSU), so their fans feel the need to run their mouth every once in a while, since they don’t get the chance to do it in football. We saw it this year with some posters, they went into hiding until about February and then boom.

I think bball is competitive in the sense that we have still won 20% of the last 10 titles outright while employing 3 HCs and being a shit sandwich outside of them but OSU is the Thanos of football. Bball is mich more of a wildcard. Plus I can't say shit in the football thread.
