I do not disagree with you, for me its more about numbers than anything else. I am fine if we miss on the top tier guys because we wont put the biggest bag on the table, but we still have to fill spots with the idea of developing them.

Between last class and this current one, it was discussed that we needed 3 DE's in each. We walked away with 1 last year and currently only have 1 this year. Again, projecting players like Reese to DE is great and helps, but I would rather him be added to a mix with 4-5 other guys than being one of the primary options.

 

Right. We're missing top-flight DEs and picking up guys like Josh Mickens at the last second, who was probably our 5th or 6th option and converting current LBs to fill those voids. That'll eventually catch up to us.

 

Chalking up every recruiting loss to NIL is tiresome

Seems like this LB class would look a lot different if not for one of the stranger recruitments and decisions in a while when that kid chose ND at the last minute. IIRC, AE said that OSU had a much bigger NIL deal offer for him. And at least OSU may be able to flip the 4* Aquinas LB that's currently committed to Missouri

It feels as if OSU is reliant on everyday normal people to drive their NIL instead of the people in the suites

 

Pretty much what Birm said yesterday. OSU is relying on fans to support NIL. Texas, Miami, Georgia, A&M, etc. are relying on corporations.

None of them must be ready. I'd be a little disappointed in Simpson though as a former five star in his 2nd year as QB at Bama.
