Clicked on the article earlier and was like no way am i reading all of that ;) And i know he's a clown, but these are some decent points at least, which first got my attention that there could be something about knowles in the news today (jbook is in MagicBuc's OSU twitter feed)
Yeah, not buying the contract timeframe thing because it makes no sense. Seems like a dumb excuse for wanting out.
Knowles can get fucked for trying to push for a new contract before the NC game. Its only made worse by the fact he ran to Penn State. I hope we hang 60 on them this year and we watch their defense implode in the playoffs.
Shitty for him to do, but I'm kind of indifferent of Knowles. He came here and completely changed the culture of our defense. Got us to the #1 defense in the country and delivered a national title. He's going back home. We'll be fine. Hoping we put up 100 on those fucks regardless.
Knowles got pissed that Day sided with Larry Johnson on the use of the DL and blitz packaged following the 32-31 Oregon loss. We gave up 496 yards with 0 sacks. We had 36 sacks in our next 9 games, including 8 in the Oregon rematch. Day and LJ were right, and Knowles left.
Now that he’s gone and we’ll talk bad about him again, Knowles can fuck off for playing Cover 0 while up 38-27 with only 8:51 left in the game against Georgia. Georgia had TD drives 1/76 and 5/72 and used only 1:59 off the clock for both.
Definitely agreed with this...And he also played Cover 0 against Michigan that year, which wasn't a great strategy with Cam Brown at CB and Michigan knowing their signs, in addition to playing Cover 0 against Notre Dame, too.
In four of our six losses in the Knowles era, his defenses gave up double digit points in the 4th Q. Michigan 2023 and 2024 were the only games we didn’t.
Think there was also a stat somewhere about OSU not forcing a punt in the 4th Q of many big games...or Michigan games at least. And hard to really guage some of those past UM games due to the sign stealing stuff, but not this most recent game at home
He pointed to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ selection of former Kansas State and Ohio State quarterback Will Howard in the sixth round with the No. 185 overall pick as the true value pick of the draft. Gruden, speaking Monday at the 2025 Senior Bowl Hall of Fame induction ceremony, praised Howard when asked about this year’s quarterback class. He had previously spotlighted Howard on his "QB Class" segment for Barstool Sports earlier this spring. “When you look at the quarterbacks this year—and I’ll go on record here—the Pittsburgh Steelers got a steal in Will Howard. That guy’s a stud,” Gruden said. “I made the comparison to Josh Allen. I said he’s 6-foot-4, 236 \[pounds], and he can run the direct power plays, he can run the zone reads. He won big at Kansas State, then he won it all at Ohio State. And he can play in cold weather—which you’ve gotta do if you want to beat Buffalo or Kansas City on the road.”
I’m not accepting buckwild dishing out likes on these posts until he acknowledges that he was wrong on this
It definitely wasn't solely on him. Losing to UGA was a combination of Day, Knowles and refs. I also will never take back calling one of your takes stupid. Others users I would potentially revisit my takes.
I wouldn’t put any part of the Georgia loss on Day. He developed a damn near perfect offensive gameplan, despite being hamstrung without his top two RBs, left at RB with a converted LB, a walk on WR, and a true freshman who is now at Memphis.
He turtled up and played for a 50 yard field goal, when his kicker had never even made one from that distance. I guarantee he wouldn't do that again in a similar situation ..unless it's against UM since he has mush brain in those games.
He wouldn’t have needed to kick a 50 yard FG if the defense wasn’t running cover 0. The only thing I blame Day for in that game was not overriding that complete fucking bullshit. It was so incredibly obvious when Georgia was about to hit a deep pass from the stands
You also shouldn’t score 41 points against one of the best defensive minds in CFB and lose the damn game
I think people forget that Noah Ruggles was pretty damn good. He was 37/41 on FGs in his two years, and had made 17 of his last 18 before that kick. He also made the first attempt from 50, but Kirby Smart called time out. He missed the second attempt.
He learned from it. It's decisions like that for why he was pounding the "leave no doubt" mantra all year. I don't think he allows that 3rd and Jeremiah play call two years ago if he were in a high stakes game with that moment. Herb is definitely right that for 95% of the UGA game he was on fire...but, definitely floundered late going conservative.
What would you have done differently, aside from the Hayden run? We took two more shots passing after that.
There is some irony in you promoting the aggressiveness of throwing a slant to your boy Xavier Johnson covered by Kylee Ringo in that moment. Day basically admitted that the 3rd down play...which UGA blitzed and Stroud threw out of bounds to nobody was a throw away. He was losing a yard or two by getting stuffed he felt would be a big deal.
I fired up NCAA 25 last night and played my first online game in awhile and threw an absolute dime to Emeka Egbuka running a corner route on a pivotal 3rd and 12. So that’s what I would’ve done in that situation. Thankfully because I’m not Jim Knowles and didn’t run cover 0 like an 11 year old, I still had the lead when I threw that pass so it helped me ice the game instead of having to kick a last second field goal.
