Day really deserves a lot of credit for how many kids with dreads that we’ve landed in the past few classes
I like our recruiting strategy a lot but I’m sure every other team thinks we buy every kid. Spend when necessary on studs but don’t go overboard on the rest
Do everyone of these highlight clips have the loading screen soundtrack from a poorly made 2007 motocross video game playing at 11 in the background? WAIT FOR IT
Rickey Dudley came to us as a basketball player, a 6’6 power forward. He played four years of basketball, and was a starter in 1993-94 and 1994-95. Dudley played football in 1994, but he still missed most practices that conflicted with basketball, so he rarely played. He used up his BB eligibility on a 6-22 1994-95 team that missed all tournaments, but still had football eligibility and went full 1995 Spring practice. In 1995, he became the best TE in the country, first team All-Big Ten. There was no Mackey Award, but he got drafted 9th overall in the NFL draft. He caught the game winning 32 yard TD in a 5/97 day we beat 12 Penn State 28-25 in Happy Valley. He was 5/106 and Citrus MVP in the rain against Tennessee.
Trivia time, answer here: https://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/ohio-state-football/2025/06/156498/osu-vs-all-50-states There are four states with at least one FBS team, but against whom, Ohio State has never played a team from that state in football. Can you name the four states with an FBS team without clicking the link?
I think I have three: Idaho Connecticut Delaware (I feel like Delaware bumped up) I’m blanking on the fourth
We are consolidating our NIL collectives with a new Buckeye Sports Group led by Learfield (IMG). https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/news/...ics-and-learfield-launch-buckeye-sports-group
We were BCS No. 2 that year, heading into the Michigan game in a BCS 2 v 9 matchup. No Big Ten title game back then, so that would have been back to back title games.
bro this kids TRUNK and frame are absolute blue chip deluxe as fuck he could slap on so much good weight and be a 5 or 3 tech between 275 - 305lbs, retain all that quickness and look like an ebony cinderblock from hell slicing and dicing up centers / guards like imported prosciutto di Parma from Emilia Romagna all day long!!!
Looking back isn’t it kind of funny (maybe not funny) that Urban made a big deal about whatever it was that Hyde did at the bar that one night and then he did absolutely nothing about Zach Smith’s ex wife telling Shelly and him that he beat the hell out of her.
To take this a step further ...I've been told by two people who "would know"....that Corey Dennis's basic job was to get Zach Smith out of bed and get him to practice. Knowing that it triggers me when I see him tweet shit like below...
Yes We play Day’s alma mater New Hampshire in 2027, knocking that state off the list. We’re 25-4-2 against the state of Texas.
I thought we established that it was Joe Biden’s fault Zach Smith hasn’t coached since 2018, or that he can’t have custody of his kids?
A very underrated aspect of Carlos Hyde is the fact that he embraced and loved the El Guapo nickname.
Zeke JK Eddie Archie Byars top 5 Trey/Hyde/Beanie next group. Pittman next group Q 2nd group if he played more than 1 season, put Sermon with Pittman
I saw Boom at a bowling alley with a few kids that seemed like siblings or nieces/nephews back I think when he was still a player here Always seemed like a good dude on top of being a reliable RB
I'm not sure where I would've expected him to land on this list but apparently Lydell Ross is #7 all-time for us in career carries. He's 800 yards short (#21 overall) of even cracking the top 10 in yards. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/ohio-state/rushing.html
I looked at that site to make my list and just completely blanked on Mo C No idea where Tim Spencer or Robert Smith rank, know Herbert hates the latter
JK probably could have gotten very close to Archie if his 2018 season wasn't pretty mid. Him getting hurt in that Clemson game hurt us as much as any of the other bullshit in that game. Shame on Urban for not getting a better backup than Master Teague who had 9 yards on 7 carries in that game.
I kind of forgot he got hurt that game. I refuse to rewatch it. There was probably 15 of us at my friend's house to watch the game and my friend very loudly broke up with his GF during the game and she stormed out of the house so it kind of overshadowed the evening lol.
I watched it at the OSU bar here. We got a table early to watch Oklahoma-LSU and were drinking whiskey all day. I was so mad after the game but as I was leaving some guys trolling all the OSU fans walked out in front of me and I watched the ring leader of the trolling get absolutely knocked out on the sidewalk which was a small victory.
yeah the offense really curdled after dobbins got hurt. LSU was awesome that year, but i would have loved to have watched a healthy version of our team square off with them. 2024 is close, but i still think 2019 at its peak is the best osu team of my lifetime
We’re into 30 days of OL and DL now, and there are good choices at 79 like Dawand Jones, 14 year NFL vet Ryan Pickett, or former All American and number 4 overall NFL pick Chris Ward. Sometimes, however, we have to acknowledge accomplishments that transcend on-field play. Who among us has not wanted to flip a double fuck you to 110,000 Michigan fans, as we exit the field in a victory? Marcus Hall was not the player that the three above were, but he speaks to our souls. This man has four pairs of gold pants.
