I’m more than ok with him. Feels like a kid that could sneak up on everyone in a couple years: 2024: 11 Games- Completed 105-137 (76%) passes for 1,638 yards and 17 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Also rushed for 183 yards and three more scores. 2023: Helped guide Mission Viejo (Calif.) to the CIF State Division 1-AA championship title, its first state crown in eight years. Completed 163-260 passes for 2,184 yards and 26 touchdowns in 16 games as a sophomore. Also rushed for 496 yards and a touchdown. Fahey is one of the most talented quarterbacks out West. He’s surgical from the pocket and can pick a defense a part with his accuracy and timing. Shows off a quick release, throws one of the tighter balls in the region and processes the game extremely quick. In terms of his ability to get through his progressions and reads, he’s one of the more advanced signal callers in the country. An extremely smart player with a high football IQ, knows where to go with the ball, doesn’t turn it over and will still take his shots down the field. Is accurate to all three levels of the field, changes speeds well and knows when to take a little off and when to add some heat when the windows are tight. A tough kid with a lacrosse background and isn’t afraid to take a shot in the pocket or run though a defender to pick up a few extra yards. At 6-0, he’s not a big quarterback but has a solid frame, a strong lower body and should have no problems holding up against the hits he’ll have to take in college. Checks off the leadership box as well, has always had a clutch gene and is the guy you want in your huddle late in a game when you need a late game score. Projects as a multi-year starter at the high Power 4 level and it won't surprise if he sees the field early in his college career as well. -Greg Biggins
Task for someone (Chuck). Please go through this and count how many times he says “stuff like that.” It has to be approaching 20 times. And this is coming from someone who loves to do the “uhhh” thing.
Honorable Mention: Mike Kudla ( RIP ) . Highly rated recruit with brute farm boy strength. Came on late in his career to be a good player. Holds the OSU weight room record with a 610 lb bench press
Kudla is third in NFL Combine history for 225 pound bench press reps, at 45. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_Scouting_Combine
Seems like a bigger loss for Texas than anyone else, since normally they would be getting that kid. I'm not trying to tell the oil barons how to spend their money, but if I was a TTU oil baron I'd be over spending for a handful of croots in the 75-150 range than locking in an OT that won't pay dividends for a couple years just to win a dick measuring contest with the Longhorns.
can't wait for a deep dive analysis in 2030 looking back at who chased bags in the early days of rev share and outcomes for players and programs alike if this gets TTech in the playoffs in 3 of the next 4 years, hard to argue a bad investment. but if they continue being what they were...
You can buy talent with cash and in a lesser league like the BXII they have an easier path to the CFP just by incrementally improving their roster, which they did through the portal this year and are set up to do in HS moving forward They are positioned to win the BXII this year and that will only aid in them separating from the pack.
TTU dropping a decent amount of bags to actually occasionally get to the playoffs, is most definitely worth it vs. the alternative of being irrelevant. But, I think Corch 's point...which I agree with...is that it's not going to make them a true contender. There are levels to this madness and I'll believe they are on the OSU level, when I see it.
But I don’t think their goal is to be on the elite level, now It's to show a commitment and ability to compete (ie win their lower league and be a fixture in the post season). Thus when the inevitable break off comes, they aren't left behind. Texas Tech looks no different than Ole Miss, Mizzou, or South Carolina these days, they just don't have a P2 patch on their chest
BIL smoked ribs, sausages and chicken. Smashed on that with mac&cheese, bakes beans, scalloped corn and potato salad.
We've seen teams try to buy their way to success and it just doesn't work the vast majority of the time
Two grilled chili cheese coneys, with skyline. Baked beans, Mac cheese, potato salad, and approximately 6 deviled eggs over the evening. Drinking Sam Adams, brewer patriot.
