Kinda funny, watch them draft a defender first round https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/cap/
Just got done watching Colin White. He is a stud. Threw down a sweet one hand cock back dunk in traffic. They beat Margareta easily and head to final 4.
Imagine committing like $15 mil to him vs $40 for May was a pretty big factor hopefully make a big splash in the portal
I'm impressed with Bjork that he would go with him. He has zero relationship with Diebler and you'd think he would want to try to make some splashy hire to start his term. Good for Diebler that he made that type of impression on him.
It’s a safe hire. The OSU community loves him because his brother is a hero, he’s from Ohio, he engineered a feel good run, and he comes cheap.
Agree to disagree. I also don't think it's a safe hire...think it's a pretty risky hire when the current state is an empty arena.
Jon is universally well liked but pretty sure most remember that era for the 2010 disappointment. Was fun when they got some level of triumph with Carmen’s Crew
Promoting an assistant is a safe hire when it's due to a legend/very successful coach retiring or leaving. Promoting an assistant when the job is available because his boss was awful...is quite a risk.
I'm shocked. I'm guessing this means the key players from the roster will be back next season, at least. I just want to be a part of March Madness again.
He also has the foundation’s backing which helped his cause I wanna see if he can do the tough thing and push out Zed and Etzler/Hardman Then again, can always just pay tuition out of NIL. Why the whole worrying about 85 is nonsense. Zed has to go though
Isn’t there there some really good in-state recruit that’s like really tight with Diebler? As in promoting him could help Ohio State’s chances?
Zed, Mahaffey, Parks, Etzler, Hardman are players who don't need to be a part of the roster next year. Chatman is still an unknown. We need to get some size in the transfer portal.
I have no idea but Ohio is loaded. Darryn Peterson plays in WV but Ohio guy and 2 other top 40 recruits
Royal is a local kid too. Really like what I saw from Middleton, we need to really press to keep him.
I’m fine with Mahaffey and maybe Parks being bottom of the lineup guys Mahaffey’s main issue besides being a PF who can’t shoot is he starts and plays with Felix, he does have useful skills for any team
I'm fine with Diebler. He's already proved he's a better coach than Holtmann. Like Goose said, just be a yearly tournament team that doesn't lose in the first weekend every single time and every now and then have a special run.
It gets ugly for anyone who doesn’t win. All I’m saying is that casual fans who remember Diebler’s brother from our last glory years will buy in quickly if he wins. Let’s see how he recruits.
my feelings (which are very important obvs) on this hinge on why the hire was made. if there's a shared sentiment that diebler is a rising star, i'm totally on board with rolling the dice. ideally, he would go off and get some experience running a smaller program first, but there's no guarantee you'll get another realistic shot at hiring him if he has success if we're just overreacting to him winning a few games after holtmann got canned, or worse, penny pinching, then fuck that
We had a $30 mil profit last year and B1G about to make more money than ever, it's more being sensible over penny pinching. Who says we can get May and what would it cost
