Good for Day, he deserves it. Hopefully Holtman isn't getting a big raise as he hasn't really earned that. But for recruiting purposes you always have to keep coach's contracts 4+ years out.
I’ll wait to see the terms of the Holtmann deal before criticizing. Gene is a good AD and I trust he’ll do the right thing.
Holtmann getting a raise could just simply be a market value thing. Even if we don’t like him we can’t pay or treat him like dogshit because that could scare off future potential candidates
You can’t send a guy out recruiting with 2 years left on his deal. It’s easier in basketball than football but still not smart
I remember looking in March and he wasnt even top 25 in the country in salary per year. A small bump with the extension for recruiting probably doesn't change that much. You'd assume if they moved on that whomever they grab would easily suddenly be in the top 10 like an Ohio State coach would be.
Baseball game got rained out so went to the local bar. karaoke night. fuckers take this shit serious.
I didn’t sing anything just wanted to watch hockey. but……if I did I would sing Wislon Phillips “Hold on”.
This would be a difficult choice for me, which would largely depend upon how much I drank. I’m feeling Prince, Kiss.
Both extensions seem pretty reasonable to me Holtmann went from 3 to 3.5(signed nearly 6 years ago). Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Seems like Gene will give him 1 more period to prove his worth Day went from 7.6 to 9.5, he wins a nati this year or next and he’ll be bumped to 11-12
That’s the first time I’ve seen Wiltfong. He may have been the last guy in a line of 50 that I thought was him.
The OSU AD is going to make an obscene amount of money in the next few years. We can pay whatever we want. The home games this year against Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan all will be flexed priced higher than the average ticket cost of any recent season. An extra $50 for any one game adds $5 million in revenue without even factoring concessions. The Big Ten TV contract is being finalized right now. It’s going to be at least an extra $25 million per school, with some estimates predicting near $50 for around $90-100 million per school.
Random thought of the offseason. I am overly excited about our new defensive system and plan. I have listened to a few podcasts recently that were breaking down the NFL trends on defense and what teams are starting to do. Alot of what was discussed was the increasing amount of teams that are prioritizing the safety position and going with a 3 safety look. They have talked about how it gives the defense positional versatility and allows for more disguising. Any other year I probably wouldnt have cared nearly as much but its fun to know that Knowles is leaning into trends that smart NFL teams are starting to use.
Former buckeye And I liked that ‘success only comes before work in the dictionary’ closing…and I think reassuring was supposed to be redshirting ;)
EJ got sneaky athleticism. You can see why he had a shit ton of blocks this year. He's gonna be a solid NBA player.
Bro voice is sweet as Michael Jackson 1986 with that “I’m doing good how are U!!” I’m doing really well now Noah!!!
Friday Survey 1. How expensive would gas have to be for you to change your driving habits? 2. Crushed or cubed ice? 3. Are you going on vacation this summer? 4. Who leads the Ohio State TE’s in receptions this upcoming season? 5. What are you listening to, or have been listening to lately?
1. Probably like $8 a gallon honestly 2. Cubed 3. Probably not. Just bought a house that needs some work, so probably going to to take care of that. We have some trips planned for October and December though. 4. This is tough. Maybe Stover? 5. Dawes mostly the past few weeks.
1.) $10? All of our driving for the most part is local other than when I travel for work and that's reimbursed. So, I'm not really sure on a number there. 2.) Crushed 3.) Yes ( Fenwick Island, DE / Parents lake house in Northern Michigan / Annual Torch Lake trip ) 4.) Royer 5.) Old hip hop on Sirius
