I agree to an extent and don’t want to be overly negative, but three of these guys likely aren’t or shouldn’t be starters. Babb, Friday, and Williams are a strange three to be captains. I’ll give Night King his due. Everyone seems to like him except me.
Strange by what metric? Captaincy has never been about choosing the best players. It has felt to me like a lot of times as a reward for some players who have stuck around even if they happen to not be headliners. Feels like those three names fit pretty well. Also, with what Babb has been through medically and Im sure mentally, the fact that he has come back and seems to be contributing at all makes him the exact type of player I would want to be a captain.
Strange be the metric of being a player. Babb may be a great guy. Just my two cents, I think captains should be guys playing critical roles on the field. I also think if you have too many captains, then you don’t have any captains. If everyone is special, who is really special. Again, just my old man rant.
Do you have any evidence to back that up or just "I'd say"? Also, do you believe the teams were good because they had had elite linemen and defenders as captains?
To your latter point, no. But the lack of skill on this defense is concerning. Period. as to your first question, no way I’m looking that up. Just going off memory. not trying to start some big argument. Feel free to tell me ‘I told you so’ if you are right
I think the skill on defense is fine. We have recruited incredibly well for a long time now, the question is whether the new coaches/system can help unlock the skill. I don't think any of us here have any real idea how the defense will look this year.
We had over a dozen defensive players transfer out in Winter/Spring because we’ve recruited so well. There is a ton of young defensive talent on this team.
I did this a few weeks ago to cheer up HotMic, top-100 rankings: DE Zach Harrison (12), Abor (63), Tyler Friday (93) DT Taron Vincent (20) DT JT Tuimoloau (4), Michael Hall (53) DE Jack Sawyer (5), Kenyatta Jackson (60) LB Cody Simon (75), Teradja Mitchell (44) LB CJ Hicks (7), Reid Carrico (87) CB Jakailin Johnson (50) S Josh Proctor (71) S Sonny Styles (12) S CB Jordan Hancock (73)
And Tyleik, our sophomore class is so good. I just don't wanna see Teradja on the field. Great kid, gonna do things in life, but he really sucks.
Kourt Williams is going to be on a Straight Kill Mission this year and we'll look back at this and laugh.
Kye Stokes as well, he’s shown it any time we have had practice film or the Spring Game. Lost his stripe first. He’s going to be good.
I would like to see Kourt at LB full time. He’s too big to play safety but could be a Cie Grant position switch OLB.
Stick around Gunners I’m just glad I figured out why BuckeyeRiot has been in such a bad mood, sweating his ass off at 77 degrees in his house.
Think it will be some combo of Burke, Brown, Hancock, Tanner, Proctor, Hickman as base D then replace Tanner/Hancock with Williams vs corn-fed teams and their 1980s offenses. Seems like Jyaire Brown has been a very pleasant surprise recently too. Only freshman who has lost black stripe in camp so far.
Keep reading writers saying Ohio's 2024 class is loaded and there's like maybe 1 top 100 kid in Bryce West and he certainly doesn't seem like a Lattimore talent, the fuck am I missing. Fuck OHSAA
Just scrolling Twitter this morning. How cool would it have been to play in this environment in high school?
I got my nanny (23 year old) two tickets to that show for her birthday. She’s obsessed. Many youths appear to be.
Wife is gonna look at me weird when I take over grocery shopping duties and drive 70 miles each way for them.
I lived three years on 8th Avenue. Bier Stube was always the last stop before home, or often just the destination in the first place.
I heard that Buffalo Wild Wings was working to have betting kiosks ad well. Basically turn itself into a sports book.
Truly amazing that Ohio couldn't even get this all set-up before football season. What an incredible revenue loss.
Let’s be real here for a second. They’re doing this just the way they did medical weed. Caving to public opinion on the matter, taking forever to implement, and there will be a bunch of dumbass restrictions to appease the far right
