Rocklahoma had the third day canceled two years in a row due to flooding from thunderstorms. It washed out the campground one year and Rob Zombie spent a couple days wandering the woods with a flashlight, looking for a couple fans of his who had gotten swept away.
I saw them with some chick a couple years ago in one of the shittiest bars in South Bend. They were fun in a tiny environment and with lots of booze. They still wear their little power pod things and shit. It was funny seeing dudes my age or older dressed like that. Fun show overall, terrible music.
I think I would rather spend $5k to go to FyreFest 2 knowing it was a scam than spend a $1 going to something called Rocklahoma.
I would go to the Gathering in a heartbeat over a festival featuring Poison and Vince Neil, among others on that list
Weiland was a huge ND guy, used to show up and do acoustic sets at the bar on campus. (The last part may be rumor, I never saw it.) He would write Weis letters and shit.
No insult — that’s not really my thing. I posted that lineup to see what you’d say about that group of bands. That said, I think ICP has headlined that festival before, so I’d worry abt the crowd there.
You're missing out by discriminating against bands like Cattle Decapitation, Dying Fetus, and Rotting Christ
Just watched the Netflix doc and as a Bahamian that lives on an out island, a few observations. 1. Norman's Cay was owned by Carlos Leader, not Pablo. Lehder was the #2 guy in the Medellin cartel so maybe that's a distinction without a difference, but Lehder bought part it, ran off the other owners by whatever means necessary, then used the island as a supply point between the US and Columbia. 2. A festival of that size on an out island is virtually impossible. The infrastructure on out islands varies a lot by island, but it's almost never city quality. It's just very hard financially for the government to have top notch infrastructure on every island in a country like this. A lot of places you're looking at <1000 people. In Exumas case, a lot less than that. In, say, Florida you can have one grid for 1M people. Here you need 20 different grids for 10k people. Aside from that, the logistics of housing and catering for that many people on that tiny of an island are impossible as they found out. There's certainly nobody on that island equiped to cater on that scale so you gotta fly people in. That's more red tape, bribes, ect. And there's just physically not enough housing on any out island for that. And then you're going to try build the festival with labor from the locals who have never built anything on this scale and time frame ever? Oh and anyone who has ever been to an actual small tropical island knows that a tent is going to be an insect nightmare. 3. The dick sucking story was probably that the customs guy had tried to get a real bribe out of them, realized they were broke as fuck and said that as a joke. Im also 100% sure that the customs agent didn't make the paper trail for 100k+ in duty disappear for free. 4. I absolutely should have jumped in a boat and crashed the festival when it blew up on Twitter. I had a chance of a lifetime and blew it.
I still can't believe how eager that guy was to tell the world he would have sucked that dick. He didn't even have to mention that part of the story.
hell, 2 years ago Lolla had a bunch of toilets over-flowing with shit... if a festival that's been around for that long has issues with sanitation, how will a first year festival on an island fair? those dudes were dumb, and i still feel 0 sympathy for the people who bought tickets. i've only seen the netflix one, want to see hulu's version.
