Penn State would have been the biggest winner if CFB had initially gone with this 12-team model instead of the 4-team model. They would have made four playoff appearances, compared to their current zero. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida each would have gained three playoff appearances.

11 schools have made the 4-team playoff over the past seven years, Under the 12-team model, 39 schools would have made the playoff over the same span.
