This is an awesome rock undercard that's literally perfect for my tastes. Not going to fly to Texas for it, but I'd be pretty pumped if I'd be going. This is mostly in the indie / punk / emo type zone: -Japandroids - listen to "Celebration Rock" first, punk duo fro Canada -Cloud Nothings - listen to "Attack on Memory" first, originally started as a basement project, developed into a full sounding act -Twin Peaks - fuzzy indie rock -The Menzingers - YES. Been waiting so long to see them getting billed at non-punk festivals. Melodic heartland punk, "On the Impossible Past" is one of my fave albums of last five years -The Hotelier - Emo 4th wave standard bearers. Feels like a band that will be remembered as game changing in a decade or two. "Home Like Noplace is There" is heralded as a modern classic in the emo scene -Mannequin Pussy - female fronted punk rock -Sorority Noise - great indie/emo band getting a lot of buzz
True, but be careful on Hot Chip - it's a DJ set, so they'll just be spinning tracks. If actual Hot Chip was playing live they'd probably be billed 4th or 5th at the whole festival
Is this real? I love it for the most part. Really don't like Nectar being at Hula, but I can get over it. It's not him, it's his fans, really. Claude VonStroke is also utterly awful. How he's at the top of any list blows my mind. Regardless, I'd be very happy if this list came to fruition. 941Gator you going?
I'm happy about Claude because we have an inside joke making fun of our friend about Claude. "claude will kill american disco" in german accents for hours on end. and yes, i'll be there. group text(s) is already blowing up.
Not into most of the electronic music, but outside of that it's a hell of a lineup that I'd love to go see. Unfortunately, wedding that weekend.
Debating between Hula with a massive group of people including gf and other close friends or VooDoo with....maybe just me rn
Hullaweeen has a very cool vibe because of its seclusion and Halloween theme. You're just on a different planet. Not to say other Fest are any different.
Lolla thoughts/input needed: How good is Phantogram live? They go against Bishop Briggs who I saw at Mamby last year and she absolutely killed it. Kinda leaning towards seeing her again. Banks or Sylvan esso? Leaning towards Banks...think she fits the 8 pm mood a bit better. Rag n Bone man (never seen but like), Tove Lo (how is she?), and Milky Chance (saw at Mamby so will probably skip)---all kind of overlap. I could probably swing 30 min of rag/bone and then see most of tove lo. How's london grammar live? I'm afraid she's just a little bit slow but curious if she would pick it up at a festival.
These would be what my days would look like if I went to Lolla this year: Thursday: White Reaper > Temples > The Drums > Liam Gallagher > (Dinner break) > Cage the Elephant > Spoon > Probably Lorde, but Muse if I'm lazy Friday: PUP > Cloud Nothings > Kaleo (for lack of anything better) > Tegan and Sara > Ryan Adams > Whitney > The Killers Saturday: Warpaint > (drinks) > Glass Animals > Royal Blood > Live > Sylvan Esso > the XX Sunday: Car Seat Headrest > (wander around for a long time) > Sampha probably over The Shins > maybe the end of Sofi Tukker? > Get a great spot for Arcade Fire
I saw RagNBone Man in April and he was awesome. Cant recommend him enough live if you like his studio stuff. Will make it a point to go to more of his shows. Seen Tove Lo and Milky Chance at festivals. Id prefer Milky Chance easily between the two, they really put on a great show. But it could depend on the crowd youre with, what stage, etc.

Has this one been posted in here? I didn't even know it was a thing until this morning, but I'd consider going for the vibes. Not typically my style of music, though there are a few good ones. http://moonshinemusicfest.com/lineup/
No lineup yet but Preservation Hall Jazz Band is a given and the rumor is that J. Roddy Walston & the Business are signed on.
Cross-post from indie thread. need recommendations if you gentlemen have any. one of my last weekends living downtown so probably will be show hopping around these bars putting this on since they're a couple blocks away.
Hula is fantastic. One of the best festivals I've ever been to, and I'm definitely going this year. ATLEnergyGuy
Doing a euro jaunt that includes Ultra Europe and Tomorrowland. Australians remain the greatest partyers on the planet.
Met some Aussies on roundabout at Bonnaroo in '13, and they were crazy and awesome. They were flabbergasted at how willing everyone was to share in America. I gave them some vodka and they felt like they owed me, but only had a single dollar bill on them. I tried to tell them it was not a big deal and it was some cheap as vodka, but they insisted. Couldn't believe that I'd just give some for free.
