The strip clubs in Miami are gonna be nuts that weekend lol Also learned that Chief Keef is out of jail again
Sasquatch's lineup is great but the list of acts I haven't seen yet off that lineup that I want to see (after seeing David Byrne in April, I'll have seen everyone in the top 10 I want to see) is pretty low and $325 plus camping and travel for that seems too much for me. Maybe another year, but Bon Iver and The National at the Gorge sounds beautiful
I really like that lineup, but considering I could do Shaky Knees and Beats, see more artists, not travel, and go to back to back festivals in my backyard, I'm good. I think the realized that they can't sustain being a travel destination festival. It's too expensive to travel with gear and everything else, so they modified and scaled back on headliners but made sure they put together an awesome total lineup.
Organization called The Bunk Police has been doing this a while actually. They used to be able to set up places as an actual vendor, but most festivals have forced them to go incognito in recent years. Really interesting doc on the subject:
Have any of you been to Okechobee before and or just have tips in general. Read some stuff that the local police/DEA were pulling people over left and right on the way to OKeechobee. Don't speed and don't be an asshole is easy enough just any other tips would be appreciated.
I've seen those rumors for nearly every camping festival I've ever seen. That said we've had quite a few go to Okeechobee iirc. Gin Buckets 941Gator sorry if that's wrong
Was bored and somehow got onto the reddit page for it. Seems like if you got pulled over you were pretty much screwed but outside of that not much.
You’ll be fine but yes local county cops are dicks. If you’re pulled over for a traffic ticket and they delay the stop for canine search it is illegal. They will mess with you at gate a tad too. Just hide the shit out of everything and do not smoke weed in the car.
Yeah, it was fine both years for us. Though, one of my buddies cars got a thorough search on the way in. I also would probably avoid leaving with too much, as people get searched at random on the way to the interstate. Once you're in the festival you should be fine, but don't offer anything to a middle aged guy with a mustache and flat top just "looking to smoke a little weed."
another tip is to roll in as early as possible. on no sleep if need be. it can be a very far walk from certain campsites. also, understand the layout. There are 2 spots for late night parties: jungle 51 and beach stage. Idk what beach stage is called, but we called it fire stage. Basically just walk toward ferris wheel at midnight and listen for music. I saw the sun rise both nights. Actually thought 12-6 am was as rowdy as main shows. http://okeechobee.wpengine.netdna-c...2016/02/FULL-OkeechobeeMap_-FINAL-2017-01.jpg
Looks like Houndmouth is playing some festivals this year as is last year. but they dont have a website anymore and they apparently recorded an album last year. just thought it was strange and they havent been the same since katie left in 2016. Really looking toward their set at Forcastle in July
I saw yesterday that they announced some show in Colorado, at what I think is just a venue. Tried to click on their website and saw it was down. Meanwhile Katie just released a new song a few weeks back and I guess is getting back in the game. I really hope Houndmouth gets it together soon. I know music was supposed to be on the way this year, but it really bummed me out when she left. Just glad I saw them a handful of times with her.
