he's compensated, but he's more of a mascot/groundskeeper than anything. he hosts the teams using the grounds during the week and then sweeps the pitch and closes the place down after.
I hope his form doesn't translate to the national team with 2 big qualifiers coming up. I'm praying he is like Edu Vargas who goes ham whenever he puts the Chile kit.
