Jagr was always a head case, there is not one coach that would want him right now. He is good for marketing but other than that he will just be a problem if things don’t go his way. He was always like that, it won’t change and it never changed. When things go well for him he is ok, if not he acts like a little bitch.
He likes to hang out after practice. He is a loner; not overly close with his teammates and because he moves around a lot hasn’t really put down roots. He has no friends. So the training staff aren’t allowed to leave until all players have left the building. Drives the staff nuts.
I think the fact that he has literally nothing left in the tank at this point in his career probably changes things. Throw in that he’s never really been known as a locker room kinda guy, I don’t think he’d be of much help to any of the young guys on Calgary.
None of this was ever a problem with the panthers. Guy could stay as long as he wanted on his own. Makes no sense the same isn’t true with the flames. Then how do you explain all the young guys on the panthers giving credit to Jagr for their improvement
I heard it compared to Costanza and the Penske file. Just keeps showing and adding nothing. Nobody knows what he’s doing.
CF... funny you say that. It was the Panthers staff that gave the Flames staff a heads up about his stunts. And giving credit to him is the same way the players give thanks to Eugene here in Ottawa when they sign. Reality is it’s something guys say in the media knowing it’s total crap.
I know someone on the Flames staff. They said they spoke with guys on the Panthers equipment staff. Heard that they wished them luck the day he signed and forewarned them.
Speaking of the flames, they're on a tear right now. Seems like their young talent is really starting to mature. Gaudreau has gone from great player to MVP candidate, Monahan is looking like a legit #1 C right now, and Tkachuk is going from good possession player to having an all around offensive game. Fun team to watch.
I am not going to take sides here but I will just say this, I have met a few eastern Europeans in my life. Maybe 5 or 6, and none of them were even close to being normal by North American standards. They usually think women are there to serve them, and they think that the staff around the team are slaves that they can just manipulate as they wish. Some learn, some don’t
When I was playing in Victoriaville, there was this Slovak dude. He was supposed to be very good. Lazy as fuck, big, slow but ok hands, I would bet my life this dude was tied to the mafia. He was awful. One night the whole team is going out, Slovak dude can’t speak French...,barely speak english. I am just a scrub on the team but still when we went out I was hitting 100. So this girl starts speaking to me, Slovak dude comes up to me and tells me that he wants me to tell the girl I am talking to to go meet him in his car... I was laughing so hard, they are from a different world completely. And this poor guy was sure he was getting his dick wet. A few weeks later his dad and girlfriend came to Victoriaville.....I was not laughing anymore, the Slovak was an ugly piece of shit, his gf looked like a model.
And i am not even sure his dad did not bring a prostitute along the way for the both of them. The girl was smoking hot.
Every player and coach on the Rangers should give Lundqvist at least half of their salaries because he is the only thing keeping them from a top 5 draft pick.
Is there a way to watch NHL games after the fact if you don't have gamecentre? The Bruins play at 1 tomorrow and I can't work from home.
That goalie was getting abused. We are starting to work on individual skills just as much in North America
and that clip shows us exactly why goalies in russia suck. some of those drills are idiotic for goalie development.
Well I personally know one of the young guys that had some run with the Panthers last year, Griffith. He said it was cool to play with a guy like that you grow up watching your whole life but that was pretty much the end of it. I know he wasn’t there long though. To me that just sounds like a polite break up, there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes we don’t know about.
Id recommend anyone to pick up Sean Avery’s new book. The first 6 chapeters or so are about that dominant 2002 Wings team, lots of stories that have never seen the light of day. Probably for good reason too
Yeah, I was going to say the fact that they have forwards for days and shitty defensemen makes a lot of sense.
A buddy started playing in the O back in 91. One of his first games he goes into the corner and a scrum ensues. Players pair off and grab jerseys when some guy grabs Paul. He turns to see the big E holding him. He says oh fuck. Lindros laughs and they just grab each other. Dude would have torn his head off...
Chelios is such a freak, playing in the nhl well into his forties while partying like an animal should land him in the discussion for athlete of the century.
Heard the rumours on TSN that Phaneufs name is brought up as a possible trade asset. BS. Nobody is interested in him or his contract. Just like last year st he draft; no team was calling Dorion to ask about Dion. And another thing that’s pissing me off. Pageau and RNH both got injured the game before their break but deemed themselves healthy enough to go on the beach trips. Then when they get back all of a sudden the injury seems to be a little more severe than they thought. F you and your trip. They should be suspended without pay until they are healthy.
You realize that there is a massive gap between being healthy enough to play hockey and healthy enough to go to the beach right?
You realize guys lie to their staff so they can go to the beach when they really should stay and make sure they are healthy to play games after the break?
Not a good night to be stumping for vas but overall he’s definitely up there. Whole team looking like shit tonight but some of the softest goals I have seen him give up in a long time.
Should get and will get are obviously two separate things. At no point was it going to be a good idea to hit Schultz in that situation. Dangerous all the way. 10 games imo. He has a history of chickenshit non hockey plays, though that’s usually consisting of being the worst diver/embellisher in the league. Was so embarrassing that he was a captain for so many years.
Yeah I can see that, I was mostly comparing to Canadian goalies at the wjc and usually Russia rolls out better goalies than Canada. I would say they produce a normal amount and the us are the leaders in goalie développement.
