I hated him toward the end. Such a frustrating player. There is clear talent but he plays like he’s 18 at times even though he’s a decade Plus in the league
No team is better at getting dominated and winning than the Rangers. This rebuild is total bullshit. Drafting in the 10-12 range is not getting this team the young superstar that they haven't had in the last 20 years.
Big game on Thursday #Philadelphia Flyers #Columbus Blue Jackets Hopefully Seth Jones is good to skate
It’s their style of play. They need a coach to play aggressively so you win an interesting 5-4 game here and there but on those nights you play like shit you lose 5-1.
They are in no mans land. Clearly they suck but won't be drafting high enough to get a surefire young star. A half ass rebuild just missing the playoffs or squeeking in the next year or two does nothing to turn this into a legitimate contender. The only good thing to come out of this season will be AV getting fired as soon as the season ends. If only this team had goaltending like Carolina they would be in the mix for the top pick in the draft but Lundqvist is just too damn good for a team that needs to lose a lot more than they do.
Wait till the Rangers are total shit where you finish bottom 3 for 3 years in a row only to move down 3 spots after the draft lotto. From 1-3 overall pick to pick 4-6. Fuck Edmonton!
Was talking about this the other day but I wonder if the Rangers could sell Henrik on a trade to a contender where they retain say $4.5 million of salary. So the team acquiring him gets Henrik for 3 more seasons at $4 million per. Gives him a decent backup and keeps his games lower in the regular season to gear up for a playoff run. Going to be tough to rebuild with a goalie as good as him and it would be a waste of his talent to finish things out on a rebuilding team. Obviously he has an NMC so he would have to be on board with the move.
He doesn't want to leave even if it means facing 50 shots a night. He has earned the right to do whatever he wants but the team can't sink to the bottom of the league with him on the team. Shame that he won't win a Cup but at least he will have his number retired.
What kind of bribery would the lightning have to offer a rebuilding team to take ryan callahan? He has a modified no trade that kicks in this summer. Has 5.8 million AAV for 2 seasons left. Obviously he isn't worth that. Will be interesting to see if yzerman can houdini someone into taking it or if we tries to keep him for one more season knowing that the price to take that contract for only the last season will probably be much lower.
Rangers and Wings have a similar problem in that their leaders (Both Henrik’s) Keep the teams from sinking too low. It’s quite annoying.
Few things in sports are more frustrating than your team not tanking well enough to pick in the top 3.
At least the Rangers got assets back before they diminished too much like what happened to the Canucks. Also I hate your avatar!
The thing that baffles me is how bad the Canucks have been the last few years, yet they're right up on the $75M cap threshold for all those years. At least $14M is getting freed up after this year with the Sedins possibly retiring. Wish we could unload Eriksson's contract too. That would be $20M in cap relief that a rebuilding franchise needs...... financial flexibility.
that's how you get up to the cap. The Canucks have 25 million tied up in 3 players who have a combined 110 points.
Probably will decide in the offseason, but if they do come back they won't be making $7M/year anymore. My opinion: They need to because they are a shell of their former selves and this could make the Aquaman go all in on a full rebuild. They earned the right to come back for another year or they could go back to Sweden to play for Modo and help them get promoted to the SHL.
25M? They could do what Arizona did to get to the cap floor or make trades like Toronto did to get draft picks.
who are they going to trade for picks? That roster is pretty much devoid of veteran talent that anyone else wants.
By trades I mean taking on bad contracts for picks. Tanev has the most trade value on the team, Edler will be a rental next season. He's played pretty good this year, said he wouldn't waive his NTC at this year's trade deadline.
and they can't do that because they have almost 31 million dollars in salary tied up in players nobody else wants. That team has made awful signing after awful signing. They gave 6 years 4.375 AAV and a NTC to a 29 year old that has never broken 40 points in a season. I mean what the fuck kind of incompetence is that.
They can still taken on bad contracts that mysteriously end up on LTIR. I agree with you on the contract signings, but they were still in retool mode. I still don't think they're all in on a rebuild. That's why the Sedins need to retire or go back to Sweden so it ends an era and they can go full rebuild.
you can't take on those LTIR contracts when you are already up against the cap. You can't go over the cap by more than 10% (I think that is the number) during the offseason.
$15M is coming off the books this offseason, maybe more. I would guess they have $10M left over to play with after they sign the RFAs.
its inevitable but won't matter because Chiarelli will trade Klefbolm for pennies on the dollar and the Oilers will continue to waste the best lotto luck in sports history.
He looked like he was going to break out when he signed the extension in 2014 and signed for 6M/year. Played on some shitty Oilers teams too before McDavid. Maybe him on the wing with McDavid raises his value again.
http://ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/...ikely-numbered-and-hes-handling-it-like-a-pro “I heard on Sunday it was done and somebody backed out at the last second,” Ryan said Monday morning at BB&T Center. “Karl and I were like, ‘pack it up’. We thought we were gone. That’s just the way it goes. Then you’re like, I’ve got to move again?“
Just did a draft lotto sim, I'd be happy with that...... especially 2 & 3. http://nhllotterysimulator.com/
All this Sedin talk reminded me that Henrik Sedin has the wildest hockey reference page ive seen. His 2 goals and 41 assists this year are weird enough but his whole career has been weird. Dude never shot the puck, 9 years of less than 100 shots. That's stay at home d man stuff. But he still has a career 13% shooting percentage. And then I always had the perception he was like a two way selke caliber center but he was getting sheltered with 60 and 70%+ o zone starts every year. Never seen anything like it. What a successful and strange career. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/sedinhe01.html
We just killed off the Canes with a 3 goal comeback in the third but lost Debrusk, Chara and Krug during the game so mixed emotions.
Our D and PK has been bad the second half of the year. We can score with anybody but are giving up way too many shots lately and given up a PP goal in 10 of the last 12 games. Hopefully some extra practice time the next few weeks can get those areas cleaned up.
