True. And tallon has taken some shit from the bloggers down here. (We don’t have beat writers anymore) But nationally, both guys have gotten a big pass. Just shows how much of a good ole boy network hockey media is.
I don't know about Tallon but Chiarelli is pretty much a punchline at this point. I can't imagine him keeping his job after the debacle of a season that they have had. McDavid alone should ensure being a playoff team.
If the Oilers are going to be consistently good they need to trade RNH and split up McDavid and Draisaital. It’s kind of amazing how much of a struggle it is for them to find a winger for McDavid. If they don’t end up in the top 3 I have to imagine they try their damndest to deal up to 2 or 3 for one of the wingers.
What was the barzal trade? A pick? Hall for Larsson was criminal. A complete steal. As a mtl fan I did not want Subban to be traded but hall for Subban would’ve been ok. Larsson? Lol
Chiarelli traded away hall and Seguin for Larsson and Loui Ericsson basically. incompetence at its finest
Thank God Murray is skating and traveling with the team again because he literally can not come back soon enough.
The Oilers traded the 16th overall selection (NYI ended up picking Barzal) in the 2015 draft and a 2nd round pick for Griffin Reinhart.
Reinhart got picked by Vegas in the expansion draft, he is playing with the Chicago Wolves which is the Vegas AHL affiliate.
It looks awful for edm but there is no way to tell if edm would’ve drafted barzal. Barzal was injured that year, the islanders made a incredible pick, solid gamble
every time Draisaitl is on his own he struggles to carry a line. He goes from an elite player to an average 2nd line center. He needs to stay stapled to McDavid and be arguably the best duo in the NHL.
I don’t think he’s had enough of a chance to stick it out at center but I know those guys prefer to play with one another. I just don’t think you can tie up over 20 mil for 2/3rds if a line when you can’t ice a second line, let alone a third and a fourth. Draisaitl is too talented to not figure it out. He just needs the reps.
That’s why they always drop. But I would not be afraid to draft the guy you are talking about, I just would take the Czech before him. And of course dahlin Dahlin Zadina Svechnikov Tkachuk Bovquist Hughes Dahlin easily the top pick, zadina is clearly the second pick for me...after that it’s tougher. Lots of upside on these defensemen.
Preds won again and are the first team to clinch a playoff spot. Playing unbelievably well right now.
Best part about the Wings going to the East that I don’t have to watch us play the Ducks often. I forgot how much I hate Perry, Kesler and Getz. There have been three fights already tonight and I won’t be shocked if we see more with how chippy this game has been.
Obviously you take Dahlin at #1. If you get the 2nd overall or lower, you either take the BPA or trade down. I really like Boqvist, he's Dahlin lite imo, Bouchard looks really good too, and Hughes is the best skater, but his size worries me.
But in today’s day and age I find it hard to believe. Should have said it was something you’d hear more 5-10 years ago.
Getzlaf is hard in his stick. Dirty sometimes but he doesn’t strike me as the type that would go after smaller players just because. He probably felt he had a good reason like you said.
I'll take Noah Hanifin. He was good at 19 & 20, but he's really starting to make that jump this year.
Tanev is coming back tonight, I hope they don't start to win games now, still can't score for shit though.
Guy is a stud. I see him a lot in the summer league a lot of the Mass. guys play in and he and Eichel are clearly on a different level than guys like the Hayes boys, Kreider, Vesey etc. Donato is the next guy from around here, he's usually the best skater on the ice in those games
Just saw the highlights from the panthers game, Jesus Christ Luongo.... He did make an incredible save, mostly because he was completely out of position but he looked awful on almost every goal
Big game for the lightning today against the fighting mcdavids. 2 straight blowout losses at home. Sens and the bruins without 4 of their top 7 players. Cooper can’t seem to figure out he defensive pairings. He’s been trying to play 6 D but I think he needs to go back to 7 and give sergachev less minutes or a few games.
yea. he was terrible. Panthers dominated that game and couldn't score and Luongo gave up bad goal after bad goal. Pretty much a backbreaker
Simmons brought up Tavares today and what his options are. At this point I hope Tavares weighs hisnoptionsninnthenmarket and says see ya Islanders. You had 9 years and this is what you’ve given me?
The Canadian guys like Friedman and Marek say Tavares is a loyal guy. I think Tavares stays, but the Islanders have a ton of work to do. Having Barzal explode onto the scene is probably the key reason Tavares ultimately stays though.
He is in playoff form, I don’t remember a professional goaltender getting so rattled at every sight of pressure to win. I love how he plays but he crumbles all the time, really hard to understand why he is like that.
