Not sure he stays, he would be completely stupid to stay if any good organisation offers the same as the islanders.
you aren't wrong about his history, but at the same time, the Panthers aren't back in the race without Luongo.
I would cut off a finger to have Tavares on the Devils but I think we end up with one of the jersey guys JVR or Carlson instead. I think if he leaves the Isles he ends up in the western conference. Rangers and Habs are theoretically good fits but they're both in weird spots right now.
He definitely cares a lot about the Isles organization so not sure I could see him staying in the division. San Jose has been mentioned a lot.
Nah, they have some nice pieces. Terrible year but stone is good, karlsson, Chabot, Duchene, Hoffmann... all good players under 27
Ownership is a mess. Too much talent on this squad to be a bottom 5 team. Sometimes shit goes sideways and teams can’t recover. Look at Florida the last few years. Up and down.
I think Bowness needs to be replaced after this year. I don't think he's awful but he continues to play Sustr no matter how many times he's proven he's just not any good and the PK is just a disaster right now. He ran the practices this week with Cooper having a medical issue and the PK gives up two goals on Boston's first two PPs. We just haven't been playing well the last two months despite winning games and last night showed we're not going to win playing like that against good teams(and got schooled by a team missing several key pieces). Theres not a lot of time to get things figured out, hopefully last night was a wake up call.
I agree. Team could also use a new assistant voice. We need to bring In a PK specialist. The players killing penalties are too good. Paquette needs to be replaced though.
could go be the face of VGK, SJ isn't a bad option. in the east, carolina would be a good fit, Florida (but they will never pony up the money), and NJ. Honestly, I think he ends up staying
The face of Vegas? Nobody will care in a year. They don’t give one single fuck over there and Tavares is boring. They like the team now becaus it is new and cheap. This won’t last and we all know it
Cooper needs to go on a good run or he could be in trouble. Apparently they were about to let him go but was then named coach of team Canada. Guess they thought firing a coach who was with team Canada was good publicity.
I could see TO making a push for him. They’d have to let JVR and Bozak walk this summer and deal Kadri somewhere though.
that would be idiotic. Matthews is going to get a massive raise in 2 years and they would have to shed so much of their depth to accommodate both Tavares and Matthews.
I’ve had this debate with Leaf fans. How much do they pay ( combined ) for Matthews, Marner and Nylander? I said $24M per year between the 3 of them. AM alone will be $12 easy.
Wings have lost ten in a row. We will win 4 of our last 10. Hopefully that’s enough to keep us where we are at.
I don’t see him getting replaced. Now if they started next season off not playing well I could see a change. Cooper was out with a medical procedure like someone said earlier. Wasn’t working with the team all week and we played arguably our two worst games of the year. That tells me the rest of the coaching staff needs to be looked at. That said, I can’t for the life of me understand what cooper does sometimes with the defensive pairs. We seem to only really play well with 7 D.
When I was told this I wasn’t sure if it was the thinking a year ago or before the World Cup of summer hockey in 2016. So I’m not sure what Tampa’s management is thinking now. Just speculating on my part if they bow out early...especially with Q potentially about to become a FA.
I believe it’s going up. Just wonder if Toronto would use McDavid as the bench mark, the top young player in the game and nobody should be paid more than him. Either way he’s going to get $$$$.
this kid puts up some absurd stats. really curious to see if he can make a run towards making the team next year in training camp.
Niemi having one of the best games I have seen in some time. Panthers have 40 shots and at least 30 of them were premium chances.
Scheduling is so weird. Pens get 4 days off then back to back. In April they play the Caps then get 3 days off before a back to back to close the season.
We had that last week. One advantage I think the lightning seem to have is that the league schedules a lot of back to backs for road teams to play the panthers and lightning. We have benefited from a decent amount of backup goalies by having the second night of that.
I don’t like how the league schedules back to backs and makes a team travel on the second night. Usually means getting in at 2 or 3 in the morning.
I said the same to a Pens fan I work with and he said it's due to the NCAA tourney being played at PPG. Whether or not that is accurate, I do not know.
