JAX - Doug Marrone
I think there will be enough openings that we will see a current college coach move on to the league.
Somebody take Saban away
What dumb NFL franchise needs a drunk?
Chuck Pagano getting the ax?
Glazer says O'Brien could be canned if HOU doesn't win its first round game. Also I don't think Caldwell is safe if we lose out.
Jason Cole says he heard from another GM that is pretty adamant no one is getting fired in Indy this year. Who knows though.
Kevin bacon crossing fingers for Kelly
I am so sad reading this thread.
He's done about as good as you can with osweiler at the helm and no jj watt
I laughed when posters were claiming Houston was a top job when O'Brien took it. McNair is bat shit crazy if he fires O'Brien. Who would want to work for an owner like that?
If im the bills or the niners im beating the doors down at gundy/cower/coughlins houses and offering a boat load for two-three years to gain some stability. Hiring flash in the pan coaches does not work when your franchise is in rooins
Does anyone want Jay Gruden?
The Bills, after finalizing Anthony Lynn as their head coach, will make a push for Gus Bradley as their defensive coordinator
From La Canfora
Morrone going to get a chance in Jax or somewhere?
He is interviewing with the Rams
I'd love to see the chargers hire Josh McDaniel and his "patriot way" philosophy come west, whether it's in San Diego or LA.
That guy was dog shit as OC for the Bengals. His playoff games were always a gem.
Sounds like they're mutually deciding to part ways. I think it's more COB wanting to leave for having Osweiler forced down his threat when he knew he was shit as opposed to an actual firing.
I guess that makes sense. There are enough openings for COB to find a landing spot. Thanks for clarifying
I know its been reported that Bowles is safe but if O'Brien is let go it makes sense for him to end up with the Jets. He worked with Maccagnan in Houston and of course knows how great Hack is. I have always thought that O'Brien was extremely overrated but if it means Bowles is gone I will take him.
I can't imagine in Jax, they would have fired Gus weeks ago to give him a look if they thought he was a candidate.
The same McDaniel that thought Tebow was a first round QB?
Having watched 3 magnificent 9-7 campaigns closely, I will say I think he's great at in game adjustments. I just don't know what he does to prepare all week.
That plan sounds cool and good. Here's to hoping that they do.
There have been conflicting reports regarding Osweiler. Was he really against signing him or is he putting that out there now to make himself look better.
It's playoff winning QB Tebow
Pretty shitty "offensive/quarterback guru"
Yeah I thought he wanted to sign Osweiler
Everything I've heard from so-called insiders is Mcnair watched Brock beat Brady last year (lol) and became obsessed with him. It wasn't an O'brien or Rick Smith led decision.
O'Brien has always had this great reputation as some offensive genius yet he has never found a QB and his offenses always suck.
Have you seen the shit QBs he has had to work with in Houston? I mean shit he had to start Brandon Weeden in games last year
you can't discount the fact that it was cob's decision to sign brock
If he is this great offensive coach shouldn't he have had a hand in finding his team a QB. O'Brien must have had input in the draft yet the Texans haven't drafted a good QB ever. I don't blame him for struggling with who he has had but shouldn't he shoulder some of the blame for not ever finding a QB to lead his team.
O’Brien did as much fact-finding as he could on Osweiler. He watched tape of every game Osweiler played in Denver. He grilled Osweiler’s college coordinator, Noah Mazzone, who loved Osweiler. He paid attention to the impressive game Osweiler played against New England on a Sunday night in crunch time. He was sold, and told owner Bob McNair and GM Rick Smith he really wanted Osweiler. Smith did the deal, and three hours before the market opened, Osweiler sent word to agent Jimmy Sexton that he was picking Houston. Sexton then called the Texans.
What's the word on the Saints? Been seeing they may try to trade Sean Payton
So because the GM wouldn't draft a QB O'brien isn't a good offensive coach?
Do you really believe that O'Brien had no say in signing Osweiler or that the GM would't listen to him if he wanted a certain QB in the draft. I find it hard to believe that the GM had all the power and that O'Brien was really stuck with whatever QB Rick Smith gave him.
I'm not going to pretend I understand the dynamics of the Houston front office so neither you or I know the answer to that, so it's dumb to base a coaches ability on if they drafted a QB or not.
The moment that made o'brien an offensive guru
What has O'Brien done to have this great reputation as some offensive genius.
He washed Tom Brady's jockstrap that one time
If O'Brien really is so great he should go to the Jets and turn Hack into a franchise QB. If he does that he will earn all the praise in the world. Until he does that or develops some QB in Houston or somewhere else I will say that he is extremely overrated.
