It always amuses me when I think about how Celtic doing the same thing to their competition in the SPL has ended up causing them to be close to irrelevant in European competitions. Being a Celtic fan has to be dull as hell. Especially the years Rangers went away.
That's because Germany has about 15 times the population and the bar there is significantly higher than what it takes to win In SPL. Financially it makes sense for Celtic to do what they do because they don't need to be world beaters to win the league.
Country of 5 million and it's not the most popular sport, of course they can't compete in Europe. Celtic Park and Ibrox are nice sized stadiums but tickets are cheap as fuck.
What's more popular than soccer in Scotland? I was always under the impression soccer was #1 everywhere in the British Isles except for Wales with Rugby and maybe Ireland with Gaelic football/hurling.
Spectator or participation? Because I found the link below for participation, which has soccer ahead for men and well ahead for children, and golf's not really a huge consistent spectator sport due to it's touring nature. https://sportscotland.org.uk/docume...n_scotland_2008_research_digest_july_2010.pdf
basing it on Participation or In-Person Spectating is lazy. The barrier of entry to kicking a ball versus Clubs, Balls, etc. Cmon. How about media viewership/consumption?
The barriers to entry are part of the reason I'm skeptical but you bring up a good point with media consumption. I wasn't able to find anything in my two minutes of Juggsian research so I'm just going to drop this as this is a petty argument on my end.
Bayern CEO says Renato Sanches will only be available for a season long loan, no purchase option. Not sure Milan wants him with no option.
Seems like the player wants to leave for Milan. I think you guys want the money now and not loan him for two years. The issue for Milan is they have a limit to what they can spend this market and if they want a top tier striker they have to make this transfer a loan
I think ancelotti wants to move him but rummeniege is remembering that he paid 35 million for him a few months ago.
Italian papers have the offer at 7-10m now and 30-35m at the end. I think a deal is made in the next few weeks.
I thought so too, as that's all they'd said, then he says the exact opposite today. Who the fuck knows with the germans.
Milan met with Mendes couple days ago to send a counter offer. I'm not surprised he's come out today after finding out the offer. It's just him trying to leverage in the media for a better deal. Nothing wrong with it. I still have faith it gets done.
lol... Italian paper reporting Milan are prepping a 120m offer to Real for Ronaldo with the player being offered 15m per year.
Mendes told Milan the offered had to be at minimum 200m and 18m Milan can't offered those types of wages it's never happening This is just that paper looking to sell issues. I laughed as well.
I can second Gunners on this. A vast majority of the Brits and Irish I know prefer rugby hands down. Edit: work for an Irish company with a few U.K. Offices.
Looks like the following guys are as good as gone. Where do people think they end up? Feel free to add more people Diego costa AC Milan Nemanja matic Manchester United Virgil van dijk Liverpool Gylfi Everton Mahrez Arsenal
The French Treasury have to be getting hard ons from the possibility of all that Neymar tax money. Nobody collects taxes better than the French.
Neymar storming out of training after getting into a "fight" with Semedo. Maybe PSG will actually happen.
No idea. This morning was the first I'd heard it, but apparently Conte and Ancelotti met a few times on the chinaman tour to discuss it
He broke his ankle on international duty. Not out the year but it's a long season and I imagine he won't start the season.
Hazard is apparently ahead of schedule but I would be surprised if he started a game in the first 4 or 5. I think he might make sub appearances in some. We have some big games early. As for Sanchez I don't think Bayern want to sell and they don't have to. He might have to take a step down but I think he ends up going on loan for the year.
Ok it makes sense for both sides then if hazard is hurt, I didn't know that. Get quality minutes for Renato and gets quality for Chelsea without cutting 35 or 40 mil into the transfer budget.
