Been rumors that we might be cutting ties with Kool and bringing Bo back too. Who knows. I feel like there's a possibility we might have 7-8 new coaches next year.

    Is Saban pushing Enos out?

    That seems hard to believe

That's a rumor out there. IMO, would be stupid if true.

On the other hand, writer on BOL says Enos has been deeply involved in picking an oline coach, so the whole thing may be a bad rumor. Who knows?

He's who Kirby initially tried to hire before Chaney. He had a non-compete at Arkansas.

Does Enos have any better logical ties to UGA over miami?

Enos' system doesn't fit the style of offense that Diaz is looking for. I don't see how he's an actual candidate unless the tempo spread stuff has been a giant smokescreen

Tosh has been awful all year. We gave up 30+ to Arkansas. If you want him to be the point man for your defense, take him. :loldog:

He's an elite bagman and good position coach who has been promoted well beyond his ability.

Mel Tucker didn’t call anything as a DC or is Kirby planning to be more involved with the defense?

I want Tosh if we get him as a position coach. I don't want him as DC to be clear.

So he'd be taking a demotion to come to UGA? You absolutely should blame the DC, it became evident he had no idea how to stop us.

He's getting pushed out at Bama supposedly. Of course he wouldn't leave for a demotion.

I don't disagree with any of this. But I think our staff is pretty set of defense with Kirby being very hands on and with Schumann and Lanning that he trusts very much. If you guys push him out I have no problem giving Tosh a bunch of money and a meaningless title to recruit.

Curious Bama fans thoughts on this, do you think looking back at it that saban got spooked by losing the recruiting title to UGA and elevated 2 elite recruiters who aren’t great coaches to the coordinator spots or was it just simply saban miscalculated who was ready for the big jobs

I think he's being offered to stay as a position coach, but there's no doubt he's already been stripped of play calling.

    I think it's a little of both.

I wasn't thrilled with the Locksley hire, but the players were pushing for it hard. For most of the year, Locks was fine, but he called some bad games at the end--particularly in the redzone.

Tosh was definitely a position of we didn't want to lose his recruiting ability, but we weren't' going to be able to retain him without promoting. He had already turned down the Cal DC job. I supported that hire fully, but it's clear he's not capable. We couldn't even get plays called in and lined up right pre-snap half the time.

I think Tucker did but Kirby and one of our other assistants were very involved with the game planning and even calling the game. I'm just saying if we hire Tosh it would be as a codc with one of the other guys taking more of Truckers responsibilities.

Wasn’t Tosh making a ridiculous amount just as a position coach? Im curious to know how much input that other co-DC had this year as he was rather well thought of before he got to Bama or if it was strictly Tosh in charge of the D

Yeah, we were paying him pretty well. But he wants to be a HC, so he wanted to be calling a defense. Rumor has been that Golding has been taking over more of the defense for a while, and may have been calling the plays at the end of the year. That doesn't speak very highly of him either though considering how bad the defense was for the last 3 games.

This is why I don't think you can put all the blame on Tosh. Goulding has some level of culpability as well. Tosh is certainly taking the heat for it though.

You can't place all of the blame on Tosh, but it's pretty undeniable that he was terrible as a DC. Our defense had a good many moments where we were absolutely lost against Louisville for goodness sake.

Saban going off telling the sideline reporter that we don't have any coverages where we leave men wide open was pretty

As long as Kirby is here I’m not worried about DC - give me an alpha recruiter who can relieve Kirby of day to day shit. We don’t need Brent Venables or anything. Tosh would be a huge hire and I would enjoy all the Bama deflecting, excuse-making and general hoopla that would surround it.

If the job that’s going to be offered is just to recruit since Kirby and the other guy will handle the defense, why would you prefer Ansley to Tosh?

Ansley is a good recruiter too. Not as good as Tosh, but he's good.

That being said, he was always wanting an NFL job, so I'd be fairly surprised if he left.

Because we actually need a DB coach. Tosh would make us shuffle coaches to positions they haven't coached lately. Also need some diversity on that side of the ball. Plus, I think Ansley is pretty highly thought of and actually could actually be a good DC.
