KU hired Les Koenning as OC.
Color me unimpressed.
Its the 1st hire i haven't liked
Looks like the Hatter still hasn’t evolved with the times - this’ll be interesting
les koenning is awful
Alabama: The Tide are expected to hire Virginia Tech wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins as their new wide receivers coach, per multiple reports. Prior to following Justin Fuente to Virginia Tech, Wiggins coached the wide receivers at Memphis, the running backs at Tulsa and Illinois State, and served as a graduate assistant at New Mexico.
Kind of surprised Bama couldn’t do better. Maybe saban looking to hire guys that won’t be 1 and dones?
I prefer that to Lance Taylor
He has to be the worst coach we’ve employed in the last 10 years and we had Shawn Watson
Then again we had him at WR coach and he is a god awful recruiter so Charlie didn’t exactly set him up for success.
I fucking don't.
Hopefully he's as personable in momma's living room as he is in this:
The number of big name coaches he's hired while here is surprisingly thin. Kirby was an okay position coach and Pruitt got fired from Hoover high school as their secondary coach a couple years or so before taking an off the field role.
He likes his projects mixed in with some experience.
IU hiring Fresno St OC/QB coach Kalen DeBoer seems like about as good a move as possible
We had a better OC and he left for HC job. Its late in the cycle and our whole staff was in place. Not a lot of options on the table unfortunately.
Thought Lance Taylor would be a reall good hire. Glad they went this other random man.
You guys still have Tim Beck on your staff
I mean obviously Bama pretty much recruits itself I’ve just been incredibly underwhelmed with VTs staff since Fuentes got there. Frankly I’m ready for turnover at all 3 staffs in VA
Honestly, I can't explain it man. He interviewed and almost immediately got the job over Lance Taylor afterwards. I doubt it was because Saban felt like he would stick around as Higgins was already considering taking the Temple OC job over our offer, while Lance is an alum that would probably stay until he got a massive promotion elsewhere. He's also the type of guy that could be on top of the recruiting rankings for coaches next season.
I really like the Sark, Huff, Sal and Kelly hires. Flood doesn't seem worth the baggage, and this guy just doesn't stand out at all. He's improved WR production at Memphis and VTech, not exactly hard to do when they both had less than 2k rec. yard seasons before he and Fuentes got there.
The only thing I see that maybe makes him more desirable to Saban is potential recruting ties to the DMV (especially next year with the St. John's college group and Sampah/Tyree in VA, etc.) and the west coast to to along with Sark as an attempt to make up for the Tosh loss (he's from LA).
In Taylor's case, I expect someone to pick him up sooner rather than later and end up being another Bama guy that is a thorn in our side in recruiting. A Schumann at UGA, Todd Bates at Clemson type. Then of course, fuckin Dabo.
This dude we could have just let go to Temple and avoided that.
3 staffs? UVA, VT and who’s the 3rd?
At least Beck can recruit.
This has been night and day between Snyder and klieman, I’m so confused
With what, recruiting, or everything?
PR recruiting coaching hires, all of it
Kinda sounds like us comparing the Kliff regime to the Wells regime - it’s been night and day
New Bama staff looks different. Time will tell if it will work. Even if it’s not a good staff I’m not sure we really see that next season. Team is so loaded and there is a real QB in place. Maybe some closer games if the staff doesn’t fully gel but I don’t think you would see a real downturn until at least tua left.
The coaching on paper improved overall, just a couple slots could have been much better. We'll see what type of class they can put together.
Awesome guy that has the ability to get a lot out of a little. He coached two NFL LB's while I was at Nevada with him
A source tells FootballScoop that Auburn is bringing back a legendary ball carrier to coach their running backs.
Carnell “Cadillac” Williams is expected to join the staff to work with the running backs, a source shared with FootballScoop.
Williams had joined the Birmingham Iron (AAF) staff back in October of last year to coach their running backs, and prior to that was coaching the running backs at IMG Academy (FL).
Kiffin, Sark, Butch Jones, Lox, Mel Tucker, Pruitt(second time) were pretty big names
That's over 12 years though. Butch still isn't going to have a job, he'll be an off the field analyst again. He was the only other guy along with Wiggins and LT in consideration for the WR job as far as we know, and Saban hired the least exciting of the three.
He's probably goingto be a hell of a recruiter
I’m not an Auburn fan, but that Cadillac Williams coloring shit makes me so sad everytime I think about it.
Better than Koenning and Watson sadly
Could be for recruiting purposes. That area is fucking stacked with recruits this year.
Just not been overly impressed with VT staff that came with Fuentes
Just an allusion to him being not well educated?
It was the interview when he was in school and was asked what he liked to do. He said color, then changed it to draw. Stuff like that just makes me sad.
Adult coloring is all the rage now. Maybe he was just ahead of his time.
All I think of when I see that name is the 2001 Florida-Tennessee game
Locksley is going to lock down the DMV with a bunch of guys who are probably most qualified to work at a DMV
wish they had hired brady hoke instead for maximum fun
He’s going to get the DL job I imagine. That would be a good hire
Hoke? More like JOKE, mirite?
#Mississippi State Bulldogs talk me off the ledge here
They've already jumped off the ledge because of Brian Baker.
Coached here under Shula. Good luck.
Coached a DL from UTSA into a 1st rounder, this guy sounds like a STUD!!!1
I know I know
