Watson is going to be good, but Pat was the right choice for KC. He would have been the wrong choice for probably 29 other teams in the NFL. Andy needed a QB with ridiculous ability to overcome his temptation to shell up. It's too bad this Defense is starting fucking Orlando Scandrick. I think a mid range D makes them a contender in the AFC.
That throw was so fucking beautiful. Couldn’t have dropped it in there any better. Expectations for and him this offense are through the roof. Gonna be a fun season to watch.
I thought Mahomes was like a 4th round pick. You're telling me Kliff Kingsbury wasn't able to produce better results with a talent like that???? #Texas Tech Red Raiders Taques
I liked Mahomes at the time just because I think any QB with arm strength, accuracy, and mobility is going to have a really good chance to succeed in today's NFL. I think the "spread/air raid QBs don't work in the NFL" narrative has lost a lot of steam in recent years as well. It's not that those offenses are a hindrance to QB development like people used to think, but that those offenses are good at masking those deficiencies if a QB has them, which Mahomes obviously never did. Also a big fan of letting QB's sit for a year before you play them.
Also helps that Mahomes has a cannon for an arm and is pretty athletic, whereas guys like Graham Harrell were lacking both.
I think the thing about prospects is people tend to overvalue NCAA production. Pat has the arm strength, accuracy, vision and leadership qualities to be a quality NFL starter. Everyone was just quick to dismiss it because TT was mediocre and 'gimmicky offense' even though they had a lot of pro style concepts in that system. That and Andy's worst buildup of a QB was what, Kevin Kolb? He still fleeced the hell out of Arizona in that trade. Although my favorite was still loaning Feeley to the Dolphins for a 2nd round pick, and getting him back for free.
I’m glad i was so positive about drafting him. How embarrassing would it be if I jumped to a premature conclusion?
Game changed when pitt OL began grabbing with 2 hands without the refs calling holding 1 time yet have thrown it on our DB's 4 times. What the fuck. ANDY better be chewing some ref ass at halftime. PS I loath the Pitt fans at every sports bar I go to.
I'm glad I'm not the kind of person to think I know more about evaluating quarterbacks than Andy Reid does
to be successful? yeah, but i thought it'd be with a little more growing pains. to throw 10 touchdowns in 2 games? fuck no but i love it
He's on pace for 80 fucking touchdowns! This was the first game I can remember being confident that our quarterback would find a way to win the game.
Yeah, so I can spot a fun slinging Offense and zero Defense pretty easy now. It's all I'm allowed to watch anymore, it seems.
He’s the best player I’ve ever seen. I absolutely expected him to be one of the best but it’s still fun to watch happen
I don't know how long it'll take for me to feel that way. I've been burned too many times to feel confident about the Chiefs in a game like that
