Dodgers obviously struggle with the righties. Should have had this W but gotta bounce back from a little adversity. Luckily Darvish has looked lights out
Dodgers just need to get through this inning to get to Seager Turner Bellinger Puig. Options are leaving in Cingrani, McCarthy and wood. Not great bob
McCarthy has some of those innings where he air-mails the catcher 3 times in an at-bat, this could be an adventure
Roberts made the right moves, even the best RP is gonna make mistakes, just sucked it came on the biggest stage.
So many things went wrong and the Dodgers still had opportunities to win. This team never quits. Reminds me of the Hanley led team. Think we’re going to pull out every game regardless if the circumstances. I’m still baffled how the Belly pop-up in the 9th didn’t go out. I need a HR probability on that. I don’t know how Springers goes out but that one stays in the yard. And these umps zones are killing me. So many 0-2 holes.
Agree on the Bellinger out in the 9th. When he hit that everything about it screamed it was a no doubter.
I know Buck and co. have been lamenting on the bullpen usage, but I actually thought Roberts did a good job last night. The only *questionable* move was bringing in Stripling in the seventh, but I understood why he did it. Try to steal an inning and dispose of their 7-8-9 to take a little pressure off of Morrow and Jansen. I would have been fine leaving Morrow in another batter or two, but again, hard to argue with bringing in the best closer on the planet. Still can't believe Marwin Gonzalez of all people did that.
seems like the only mistake was removing Morrow after the double OR not letting Kenley go for a clean 8th and 9th. But again, we see why he'd want to steal an inning with Stripling or Morrow. We obviously needed Stripling in the extra innings, so that hurt. And ya, almost forgot the Gonzalez HR was on an 0-2 count. Kenley wishes he had that one back, obviously.
Up 3-2 in the 9th with Kenley. Not sure what else Roberts could’ve done. It was near perfect management until then. You can’t factor in going to extras I don’t think. I wanted to go Fields > Stripling. Hindsight sucks. Ha.
Utley needs to ride pine. Top 4 guys need to get going. Tomorrow's game is a total wild card with that pitching matchup. Getting behind in every count because of fast balls off the plate. Struggling with righties
Outscored them 3-1 over the last 7 innings with numerous squandered chances. The offense can get right in a hurry and the team has shown heart. More troubling is bullpen depth moving forward.
That really happened. The young guys who have struggled showed up late in the game. Cody proved me wrong, Cory started it off, Joc finished it. In Dave, we trust.
100% on Kershaw. Gave him 7 runs and he choked again. At some point you have to ask how many times we are going to let a season fail because of him. If he opts out next year, do we let him walk?
I mean the team does not get to where they are without him obviously but it is fucking maddening. No player has ever frustrated me more in any sport. I just don't get it. Letting him walk is insane talk though, come on.
Trade him. Imagine what you could get for him and the money saved. Look at our record without him the last two years. You really want him to opt out and then resign him at 45/50 million a year?
In a world where Hill goes 5 innings, really not sure how to best handle the Pen at this point. Seems like Jansen needs to be asked to get 4 outs at most. Maeda, Watson, and Cingrani would need to share the load. Maybe some Stripling instead of Maeda for game 6?
