Plus Jefry Rodriguez, which makes it a more decent return. Rodriguez probably won’t be anything other than a 7th/8th inning guy but the Nats kept thinking he could be a starter.
Cleveland Indians posters should I be happy?
he was a good interview in that setting
never heard him talk with his guard down
Kyle Seager trolling a Weaver/Angel brings me incredible joy
Any time I see anything about Jered Weaver, I can only think of this and how ridiculous this was
Jered Weaver becoming "an ace" and getting bounced from the league was a short, great timeline
Mariners sending $20M to Mets in the deal, along with contracts they're taking back.
is JP Crawford good? I know he was a top prospect but seems to have floundered a bit.
He's still very young and think he will be a very good SS defensively and his offense will improve through experience. Has a pretty good command of the strike-zone at a young age.
A lotto ticket from what I’ve read. Someone else mentioned Santana was also coming to M’s. And then some Seattle blogger who has been all over this trade said something to the effect that there’s more guys coming back and the biggest piece is going to be a P. Which clearly means were getting Aaron Nola.
Please take Carlos
Well congrats on Segura. He is simply a fucking joy to watch. Stupid Mariners--I hate this but it's the right move.
The Braves will take Haniger while you are giving all your guys up to NL East teams Mariners
I like Segura but he’s pretty bad at SS right?
No above average defender. He will upgrade your defense.
I wouldn't say that. He's not an elite Fielding SS, but he's not a bad one.
Can't believe the Phils foisted Santana on the M's in this deal. There has to be a pretty valuable prospect on top of JP going to Seattle.
I saw some random on twitter claiming it's Eickhoff but whoever it is could be making it up.
Mariners could be adding 50+ homers today, sleeper team
If this is all they got for Segura and took back Santana.. It's Dave Stewart level malpractice.
Yeah if that’s the trade then it’s time for a new GM.
Is it possible that Leake would be the pitchers going back to Philly in that scenario? I don't understand why Seattle would be taking Santana's contract, otherwise, unless Philly is paying most of it.
Also curious what this would mean for Machado. Unless he's willing to play 3B, this would seem bad for his market.
That’s what the Phillies are shooting for I think.
I don't think the Phillies make this trade if they think signing Machado is likely. they'll say they're still pursuing him to play 3B, but this feels like plan B to me.
Why? The FO hates Franco, and there was no way they were going to play Kingery at SS all season. Machado doesn't care about staying at SS as long as the dollars are big enough
what the fuck dipoto
partly explains the hold up. wish the details would just come out.
Stark saying that this guy is NOT part of the deal, another arm is.
These reporters keep getting worse every year
I think Segura's arm is strong enough to play 3rd, it devalues his bat a bit though moving him to a corner though. That's what I remembered from Milwaukee at least, not the best range but a big arm to throw guys out.
Would seem to me that after getting a reasonably priced option at short, the play would be accept Franco at third and back up the truck for Harper
Playoffs be damned, I love Doc
he seems like a normal guy.
he is so zany!
Perfect fit for the Giants
I got mad last offseason because DiPoto made that stupid "race to the bottom" quote because he was trying to make himself look good for making stupid trades. That quote got used by Tony Clark and the media all the time last winter. I'm going to enjoy DiPoto needing to come up with more words like "re-imagining" to describe what he and the Mariners are doing this offseason.
He's not going to survive this Segura trade. Nor should he.
DiPoto needs Crawford to become the player people thought he was two years ago.
