First time since Sayers and Butkus
This is the best.
lol @ Thomas over Julio.
I am very angry that ... checks Miami Dolphins roster....
I know this won't matter to you at all, but for others who are into advanced stats:
That's not an egregious snub. Similar numbers and Thomas had a FAR better catch percentage.
Thomas would need more than 3 games to catch Julio in yards.
Drew Brees being listed as playing for New England is really bothering me
Brothers ever make the same 1st team all pro before?
Thomas over Julio isn't that egregious. Thomas' first few weeks were record-setting with catches and yards. He tailed off a bit towards the end of the year, but our whole offense did after teams realized we don't have a #2 WR
No idea if it factors into the voting, but Thomas was much more important to the Saints than Julio to the Falcons.
Because Atlanta threw a ton more than New Orleans. Matt Ryan had 1000 more yards than Drew Brees.
Julio Jones at 14.8 yards per catch and 9.9 yards per attempt.
Michael Thomas at 11.2 yards per catch and 9.6 yards per attempt.
Julio produced a lot more. Period.
you’re a delusional homer. period.
He put up more yards, but I think you're playing fast and loose with the definition of 'produced.'
Stafford has the 5th highest season total for passing yard, nobody is putting him in the same echelon of QBs.
Bro, he produced more. Period.
Julio had 3 TDs through week 12, at which point the Falcons were pretty much eliminated from the playoffs.
This is coming from a Julio fanboy. It's just not that big a snub. Julio also OROY candidate Calvin Ridley on the other side, while Thomas had ... Ted Ginn (for like 1/3 of the season)
If Julio had 200 catches, you'd have a point. Thomas actually had more. Julio just produced more on his catches.
Why do we even have all-pro voting? Who ever has the most yards should be 1st team, no questions asked
So your subjective definition of production is simply yards? I'd argue catches, moving the chains, advanced stats, etc. also play into production.
I like to look at yards per target, granted the quality of the qb comes into play as well.
Bahktiari keeps getting all pro but can't get in the pro bowl.
the Saints do a lot of dinking and dunking right?
Catches are great but yardage means more. Thomas has more catches and Julio still dwarfs him in actual yardage. Would you rather have 10 catches for 50 yards of 5 catches for 100 yards?
1 catch for 1000 yards
Julio is your guy.
Just admit you value yards over more than anything else. That's fine, I disagree. Many others would, too. If that's your standard, why even have the voting?
A lot of Julio's "production" came after the Falcons were eliminated from the playoffs. If those 5 catches for 100 yards come in a blowout loss or a week 16 nothing game, and 10 catches for 50 yards come in a week 16 #1 seed clinching game, I'd take the latter every time. Context matters.
this is eerily reminiscent of the "if you remove zeke's big runs, bama contained him" idiocy from a few years ago
at dinging him bc his team wasn't good. I bet you vote Cy Young on Wins.
I just had almost this exact same argument with a friend except with Ertz/Kittle.
fwiw I was on dbl's (Julio/Kittle) side.
also the key difference in this one to me is Julio had 23 more targets than Thomas.
Despite my numerous letters to the MLB, they don't let me vote on the Cy Young. I'm trying again next year, though.
Yes or no--you believe production = most yards, and that should be the sole determining factor. That's basically been your argument. You haven't articulated a coherent thought other than "yards mean more." And because that is your position, why even vote?
Stafford had the 4th best season of all time, because
No, not the sole factor. Catches and yards per catch matter a lot too. It's overall production. Overall Julio was better. I brought up yardage bc Julio was in a different stratosphere than Thomas. They were very similar in other categories.
Antonio Brown MIA seems shocking
peter king said he left him off his ballot because of the bullshit this past week. maybe others did as well, who knows.
peter king is such a chatch
this seems impossible, but a journalist I trust retweeted it.
has to be just first team bc trent williams has made a 2nd team in his career
mmmm I like this
Trent Williams was a 2nd teamer in 2015, but 1st team? Went and looked, he's right. Washington has had a few 2nd teamers, but no first teamers since at least 2000.
who remembers watching this game
He was one of those once in a generation players that forces the game to evolve.
I was there
Outside of Trent and overrated Champ Bailey, not sure we've had any player even somewhat close to 1st team all pro.
Arrington was 3x second-team all pro
Tess' beard is a good look.
It's kinda rare for a major media character to have a beard. Hopefully it's a trend
Team will have over 100 million in cap room to spend in the offseason and 3 top 60 picks. A win in the playoffs is awesome but the future is incredibly bright for this franchise. Don’t think there’s much of a chance we can win in KC though.
Jesus, is there sports take of his that is anything but complete shit? Woof
