I’m just not sure postponing Euros a year to finish this season would work considering you have CONMELBOL players that will have Copa America during that same time frame. Shortening the season isn’t ideal but I’m just not sure the alternative is feasible
Obviously. Just discussing it from a fan perspective. I am of the belief CL won’t be finished this season and there just won’t be a winner and that’s fine. I could see leagues finishing behind closed doors but the international aspect of UCL makes it more complicated
Don’t be purposely dense. Clearly that isn’t what I meant and I believe Pasta88 is living over there still so I’d say he is affect
God forbid in the UCL thread, not the Coronavirus thread people have discussion about the impact to the competition
I was making fun of the average American. Not you or anyone on this board. Apologies for not being clear and making side note
Like I said, I think the right decision would be to shorten the season. If they’re adamant to continue; finish the local seasons behind closed doors
Ha. You think anyone organizing these tournaments cares about people’s lives or sport? It’s money, and a lot of it. aliens could invade Europe and be decimating civilization and FIFA / UEFA would be trying to negotiate with them to play behind closed doors and broadcast it on alien TV. New revenue streams and all. Until clubs can’t field teams because their players are dying, they are going to try everything to play the games.
If fans in stadiums are banned for public health reasons, it probably isn’t a good idea to congregate in a large crowd outside of the stadium.
I’m just brainstorming, as there’s not much else to do, but maybe it could work to finish the remaining second legs once we can, and then do the quarters and on at a neutral site but as a single elimination. That way you could finish the tournament in 1-2 weeks.
So with everything else starting back up, I was wondering what happens here. PSG advanced but they’re not allowed to play in France. I don’t imagine they’d want to play with all away matches moving forward if they’re even allowed to do that
PSG is kind of fucked, all of their competitors will have been playing meaningful games and they aren't even practicing.
I’m not sure that is set in stone just yet. I think there’s a chance they’d be allowed to play in August.
Yeah but that doesn’t mean that they can’t reverse the ban and permit a couple of one off matches before then.
Rioting and protesting started back up over there because of events here. I'm not saying you are wrong just that it's far from a lock, they had massive issues with their cops beating protesters for well over a year.
