I mean he missed a challenge, stuck his leg out in front of an attacker, and then made contact with him. How is that not a penalty?
He pulls his leg back and the guy throws himself to the ground. He’s in the motion of going to the ground before he’s even level with Robertson.
Robertson quite clearly made contact with him, though. It was a lazy challenge in the box. No matter what he did, he was going to make contact with Robertson’s leg. It was unavoidable.
Is this a penalty? If contact in the box is the criteria Unless they changed the rule, you can’t drag your leg to initiate contact which is what happened
Hard to tell from a still frame, but yeah that looks like a penalty. Did you want him to sprint full speed straight into Robertson’s outstretched leg? Whether he dragged his leg or not wouldn’t have made a difference. Robertson’s leg was directly in his path.
I would have wanted that penalty for Liverpool, so no objections from me. Also one of those where if Robbo was having a clean game maybe he gets the benefit of the doubt but he already had a yellow and was all over the place in defense and everybody including the ref knew it.
