i mean good for you Steph
picture is inaccurate. dame was way further back
The left side of that bracket is Spicy
The 5-12 upset carries over from the NCAA tournament
That Clippers Mavs first round would be fun
I’d be pulling hard for this
I would hate to see the Clippers lose in the 1st round
Does he have a viable "injury" to use as an excuse for this? You can't announce this ahead of time, and then not expect some sort of fine/penalty, if you follow through on it.
yes you can it’s a global pandemic
if they even tried to fine someone for not playing during a fucking pandemic it would blow up in their faces
especially someone as vocal as dame
I had a feeling this was going to be the response...but he said he's going to be sitting on the bench. So he's going to travel/lodge with his team and their staff, but isn't going to risk contact iwth other teams(all of whom will be going through the same testing, presumably)...for the sole reason that his team can't make the playoffs. Not that he doesn't want to risk his health...but because the games "don't matter".
i don’t know how to tell you this but sitting at the end of the bench away from everyone, wearing a mask, is much safer than coming into contact with 10-15 players for 40 minutes
he doesn’t want to risk his health from a virus for a team that would be warmup games for teams making the playoffs
they won’t matter. Portland is currently 3 games out of the playoffs but if they lock seeds and say only the teams currently in would make it why would be come back?
you sure hate to see Portland melt down like this!
By that thought, why would any player on a team that isn't in the playoffs?
they probably won't and why the only real options are go straight to playoffs, playoffs with a play-in tournament for 7-8 seeds and even this version probably excludes the bottom 2-3 teams in each conference
of any problem the nba is trying to figure out this seems like the one causing them the most trouble
That was my initial issue. The tweet is click-baity(no surprise) because in all actuality, Dame, for some reason, got made to be the "face" of something that was probably said by every player and team in his situation, on the calls the league had.
Just go straight into the playoffs. There's absolutely no reason to have a single regular season game at this point
$$$ is the only reason they wouldn’t
give me 1-16. Use the pandemic to shake things up with little to no backlash.
I agree with Lillard's overall point, but I'd probably be annoyed if I were a teammate and I had to play while he sat on the bench and watched (while still probably getting paid because the team wouldn't want to piss him off).
Has Dame considered actually making his team playoff worthy?
either you have a regular season (wherein Dame still has a chance to win to get in the playoffs), you have some sort of play-in tourney thing (again, where Dame can win to get in), or you only have playoff teams and Dame isn't even in the bubble.
is there really a scenario where non-playoff teams are there just to practice? because if they're playing games, doesn't that affect the playoff seedings/playoff teams?
I would prefer there be some warmup games instead of guys playing off the rust in the playoffs
I think playoff teams playing exhibitions against also-rans like the Blazers, Pelicans, and Kings sounds like a good idea
the non regular season fix to this was letting teams have expanded rosters to be able to hold more game like scrimmages in practice
only slightly less embarrassing than denver melting down on mother's day
Jon Leuer retired. Why bother continuing the season?
do better mpj
fucking #Missouri Tigers
Ummm, for a person that believes in Christ, there's nothing wrong with what he said. He didn't defend them or their action; he identified that there's something seriously wrong with them, and as he identifies as a Christian(I'd assume), believes that only one thing can change them as people.
Putting the onus on black people to do more in racist situations is tone deaf at best and MAGA tactics 101 at worst
Its past cringy to the point of ignorance
More colin Kaepernicks and less turning the other cheek. That stuff hasn't worked too well for us.
if praying the racism away worked we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place
Prayer is the refuge of those who don't care to actually fix a problem. I can't believe people still give credence to that request after the 9,000 mass shootings that have led to calls for prayer and nothing else
"do more?" He asked people that are actively praying to also do so for the police. He asked those same people(of which, he didn't point out the color of their skin) to not hate the cops, but instead pray for change in their lives.
All of which are doctrines of Jesus Christ.
I don't entirely disagree with either of these points. But that doesn't make this a race issue, it makes it an issue of what you believe about religion and those that believe...which no one who has a brand to concern themselves with(ie, not internet posters) is going to point out on social media, because questioning organized faith makes a lot of fucking people angry.
from abdul-rauf to that
what a fall for the still-awful nuggets franchise
Religious grandstanding in times like this, asking african americans to use the opportunity to pray the racism away for the hundredth time, is just naive/ hits a trigger in ways you need to research on. Sorry.
I assume you're Christian?
Also lol at saying he didn't point out a specific color of skin. Cmon. What community has suffered from corrupt police the most?
“praying for donald trump during this covid pandemic”
Porter’s tweet was poorly timed and shows a lack of situational awareness.
But praying for both the criminal and the victim is not unheard of.
Dumb tweet but that's about as far as I'd go. He's 20 and tone deaf. Whatever.
A lot of people think believing at all requires a grand amount of naivety.
I don't consider myself a Christian at all, actually. But I've spent enough of my life around churches and people that are genuine believers to know the ideas pretty damn well.
If Tebow tweets out something similar, is it tone deaf? Does the internet call him racist(despite zero history in a very public life supporting that), or is he just tweeting out his beliefs? What is the right time for that? To a person that believes Jesus is the way for a person to find change in their heart, that's a bit like telling people that right after a shooting isn't the time to discuss gun safety.
I don't agree with MPJ, and I have zero argument with saying his beliefs are wrong...I just want to make sure what's being attacked about him is clear. He just believes something you don't.
