Lot of Trae Jealousy in here. Sad!
Do you think he is a top 5 PG in the league?
Oh, so we're back to Trae IS a top 5 PG in the league. So you gotta eliminate 2 that he's better than from that list i posted.
I’m not sure I’ve seen a bigger homer on here than gaknight and his Hawks
He's kyle level
This thread is going to be big mad in a few years when the Hawks become contenders.
So when Trae probably finishes the season as number 1 or 2 in assists will you guys admit I was right?
Love the, "Spout ridiculous hot take then pretend to be a victim" strategy it's very endearing
That depends on if he appears to be a top 5 point guard in the league or not. APG as the sole arbitrator of PG evaluation seems like a deeply flawed methodology.
Of course we will! Since that is the lone indicator for being a top 5 PG
You make a good point. Total assists are the only thing that matters which is why the top 5 pgs in the league are
In that order obviously
Also Jokic is the 6th best PG in the league which is interesting
My hottake was Playing with Trae will help Cam. What do you think I meant? Trae’s defense or his ability to get Cam open in good spots? It’s not really hard to see what I meant but you guys have some weird hate for Trae for whatever reason. I don’t think this board has a thread on any other player in the league solely intended to trash him.
You literally said this. I am quoting you. If this isn't supposed to be interpreted as, "Trae Young is a top 5 PG" then maybe you shouldn't have said that literally verbatim
I’ve stated what I meant 18 times. I meant pure PG and not some hybrid or scoring guard playing PG. A guy that makes his teammates like John Collins last season better across the board A guy who lead the nation in assists in his one season in college and was 2nd his first season in the NBA.
How much more passing does he have to do for people to admit playing with Trae is better for Cam then Kemba or Oladipo?
Your hot take was that Trae is a top 5 PG. Playing with Trae being beneficial for Cam Reddish isn't nearly as controversial a take, and surprise, you haven't caught nearly as much shit for that portion of your post.
Gotta be top 5 to be a superstar
Ftr I don't hate Trae Young and actually enjoy him
Either you think he's a top 5 PG or you're just a hater, there's no room for nuance when it comes to Trae and Gaknight
You trying to tell me Westbrook was the only PG in the NBA last year?
I actually like Trae Young, but you are coming off ridiculously in this discussion. You called him a top 5 PG and that is what people took issue with. And you refuse to either stand by that claim or admit to being wrong in saying he was top 5.
I have repeatedly stated what I meant over and over again.
But you haven’t actually said if you believe he is a top 5 PG in the league or not, despite people taking issue with that line in your post and repeatedly asking you about it.
You have made the point about playmaking and making Cam Reddish better very clear, and if you’ll notice, you aren’t really getting any pushback on that clarified position.
can’t wait for the “i told you so!!” posts from gaknight in 3 years when the hawks are 7th seed in the east
It’s pretty clear the argument I was making and you know exactly what I was saying.
Yeah, which is why you've gotten so much pushback. It seems most of us do not believe Trae Young is a top 5 point guard
yes, we all know you said that TY is a top 5 PG in the NBA. Now for christ sake, just shut the fuck up, treat that L like a dick and take it.
Gaknight, the #1 rule of TMB is don't be a bitch. So stop being one.
Top 1% of 1%
was gaknight doing a bit last night
Damian Lillard only averages 6.3 assists, sucks we have such an average PG
That's like a full APG more than Steph had. Steph is trash
i enjoy old timey nba takes regarding PG's
they'd call Steph a chucker, he should play the 2, etc
Dame would be called a combo guard
What I said was that Trae was a top 5 PG on the Hawks roster people JEEEEEEZ
RJ Barret was actually a good passer at Duke, he averaged 4.3 APG and probably would’ve averaged more if Cam Reddish could shoot better than 36%.
Zion is an outstanding passer for his position as well. Cam had usage and shot percentages in the low to mid 20s; he was not starved of the ball.
The argument is can Reddish make the shots that Trae sets up for him, not can Trae get him shots
Narrator: He can't
It's ok, our reasonable Atlanta fans don't expect him to even make the shots
Stats are pretty hollow when your team wins less than 30 games.
The Knicks supposedly loved Cam Reddish because they think his game is better built for the NBA because he’s a guy who plays better when he’s allowed the handle the ball and run the offense. But playing with Trae Young I doubt he will be able to play with the ball in his hand much, he’s back to being a spot up shooter.
Our back up pg is Evan turner fwiw
Please sir, leave the Knicks out this.
Top ten point guard Evan Turner?
I think that’s classic projection onto his measurables than any sort of evaluation of his current skill. He lacks the ability to beat NBA defenders off the dribble - he couldn’t do it at the college level with significant advantages in height over every defender he played and athleticism advantages over most, and while spacing should be better in the NBA, nothing else gets better for him by moving up a level.
lot of Cam bashing here... and I will not stand for it.
#TeamGAKnight (but not about Trae... just Cam)
