Our QB and your QB each played a solid amount that game along with many others. It was just one season apart.

All I'm trying to say is that with the talent you guys have, Ive expected more. That's all.

Team look drained after that Pitt loss, not to mention those close wins we had in the weeks leading up. We peaked after the ND game if we are being honest and Rosier was finally exposed for who he is. I think quite a few teams would have beaten us that night.

And what I have been trying to tell you all day is that Clemson would have gotten more if the Canes had their three best offensive players on the field to hide their deficient QB.

Wake returns all 5 starters including 4 redshirt seniors. Ryan Anderson is better than any FSU OL.

FSU has been trash along the line for at least the last 3 seasons. A new coach isn't going to work miracles.

Again, this isn't some radical opinion. See here:

ok that was a little hyperbole, Wake returns 3 All-ACC OL. Coach Tabacca is awesome at the fundamentals and works exclusively in the weight room on stretching and knee bend, I believe hes been there 3 years? maybe 4? and has had an All-ACC OL every year but one. Ryan Anderson may be the best OL in the conference. Just excited about our new OL coach, let me have this gosh. After being so terrible for many years

Everyone we are trotting out as a starter has had injury concerns their entire career at fsu. We have good talent, we just cant seem to keep a group of 5 together for more than a few games before someone gets hurt

Hale just put his rankings out. I do like FSU to be better than this:

    1. Boston College

Wisconsin is the only team in the country returning more career O-line starts than BC, which brings back all five starters from last season along with a healthy Jon Baker at center. The numbers last year -- particularly after the early transition of Ben Petrula into the lineup -- were excellent, with BC allowing the fewest runs stopped behind the line of scrimmage and the fourth-lowest pressure rate in the ACC in the second half of the season.

    2. Wake Forest

Just a tick behind BC on the experience list, Wake returns 131 career starts on the O-line, included four fifth-year seniors. It's crazy to think how far this group has come in Dave Clawson's five years at Wake, when what was arguably the worst offensive lines in recent ACC history blossomed into one of the most consistent, physical groups in the league.

    3. Clemson

The Tigers took some heat for lackluster line play last year, but much of that criticism was misdirected. The inexperience at running back and tight end made blitz pickup an issue, and Kelly Bryant, for all his strengths, was not the wizard in the pocket Deshaun Watson had been. That's not to say there isn't work to be done on the line, but Mitch Hyatt remains elite, and center Justin Falcinelli proved to be one of the big surprises of last season.

    4. NC State

There's no doubt the loss of Tony Adams and Will Richardson leaves some big holes, but this was a terrific pass blocking unit last season (just 14 percent pressures on non-blitz plays, best rate in Power 5), and the line does return a star in Tyler Jones and some under appreciated talent in Garrett Bradbury and Terronne Prescod. Now, can NC State find someone to run behind them consistently?

    5. Georgia Tech

We know, it's all about the system, right? Sure, that's partially true. But last year, Georgia Tech effectively turned over its entire backfield, and yet the offense didn't miss a beat. That's a credit to Parker Braun and Co., who certainly benefit from a system geared toward success, but manage to execute that system well week in and week out.

    6. Miami

Like much with Miami last season, consistency was a concern on the offensive line. On one hand, the Canes averaged 3.6 yards per rush before contact, trailing only the Lamar Jackson-led offense of Louisville and Georgia Tech's option. On the other hand, they converted just over half their third- or fourth-and-short runs, dead last in the ACC. On the one hand, their 21.7 percent pressure rate on non-blitz pass plays ranked a solid fourth in the ACC. On the other hand, there's a clear split there: 16.4 percent (second-best in the ACC) in their first eight games, 31 percent (nearly double) in their final five. We like the young talent, however, and while this isn't a slam dunk, we're betting on a better season in 2018.

    7. Syracuse

This is an undervalued group. The Orange weren't spectacular last season, but they kept the pocket clean with regularity and showed some physicality in the run game, as evidenced by their dominance against Clemson's vaunted defensive line in last year's upset at the Dome. Syracuse also returns 101 career starts, so there's reason to think this group will be even better in 2018.

    8. Pitt

The strength of Pitt's offense had been the line for years, but last year's unit struggled badly at times -- particularly early in the season. Part of the blame belongs to the rest of the offense, which was in flux. There wasn't an established run game, and there was a revolving door at QB. Three starters depart, however, and that leaves some questions about filling in around Alex Bookster and Co. Stability at the skill positions should help though, and if Pitt's line rebounds to 2016 form, this offense could go a long way.

    9. Virginia Tech

It's hard to know how much to pin on the Hokies' O-line for the struggles in the run game, with Virginia Tech's yards-before-contact on non-QB runs ranking 12th in the ACC and its yards-per-carry ranking dead last, but likely there's a enough blame to go around. The pass protection was better, but still not great, with the Hokies giving up pressure on 29 percent of non-blitz pass plays. Still, the unit largely gave first-year QB Josh Jackson time to throw, and while they've lost some established stars, there's still a foundation to build from here.

    10. Duke

The numbers for the Blue Devils' line weren't bad last year, but keep this in mind, too: They played five games vs. teams that finished in the top 40 in defensive efficiency and averaged just 3.9 yards per carry against them, including just 3.13 on non-QB rushes, with 30 percent of those runs going for a loss or no gain. It's a group that is going to need to get more physical this year if it's going to handle elite competition in games vs. Miami, Clemson and Virginia Tech.

    11. Louisville

We're giving Louisville the benefit of the doubt that the blocking actually got better, but really, so much of this could be a factor of Lamar Jackson's magic. The sack rate was improved from 2016 (6.9 percent vs. Power 5, down from 10 percent the prior year), but Jackson still faced pressure on 38 percent of non-blitz dropbacks, the worst rate in the ACC.

    12. North Carolina

What to make of the UNC line? It returns just 19 career starts, third-fewest in the country. But it's not like those departed starters had anchored the offense. A healthier season and some steadiness at the skill positions should help, too. But the bottom line is there's a long way to go here, and a lot left to prove.

    13. Florida State

The numbers from 2017 are just horrific. FSU allowed pressure on 31.2 percent of non-blitz pass plays (12th in the ACC), allowed 23.2 percent of designed runs to be stopped for a loss or no gain, fourth-worst in the Power 5, and, even when there wasn't a blitz, FSU got its QB hit on passes of 5 yards or more downfield 15 percent of the time - more than double the next worst ACC team. Add a new O-line coach, a new system that should be friendlier, and a more established QB situation and there's ample reason for optimism. It's just that there's a long, long way to go.

    14. Virginia

The Hoos averaged just 2.24 yards before contact per rush last year, worst in the ACC. When factoring out sacks, no ACC team ran for a worse yards-per-carry. The pass blocking was far better, but there's also ample turnover from last year's group.
