Miami is a dome, WC cities dont typically deal with the threat of rainout this time of year. Especially compared to East Coast/Midwest cities ...
I can't believe people are actually arguing in favor of a day off after Opening Day bc I said it's dumb. Some of y'all would argue against the sky being blue if I said it was blue.
No one is saying it's good or bad. Just explaining to you why some teams are off today. It's pretty obvious tbh. Listening to FNTSY network right now and the host covered the rationale we've just laid out for you ...
Everyone knows why it's done. I just think it's dumb to burn a day after Opening Day. Off days are already limited, I don't like one being burned after one game.
It may be. But my fantasy pods have also been talking about schedule changes and an excess of off-days already for 2019. So this year the consequence may be even less significant ...
isn’t mlb also starting the season much earlier? wasn’t too long ago opening day for all teams was on same day as the ncaa final game
i remember our opener in 2017 was the same day as the unc/gonzaga game the tourney final is usually the first monday in april as well but it’s pushed back this year
I think that started last year. They moved opening day up and added a 3-4 off days to the season. I think its 162 games in 187 days now.
different topic, but maybe they should scale back on regular season games. letting more teams into the playoffs has fucked the good teams and their pitching
Looking back at last year, I was at Tigers opening day on March 30th, so I guess the schedule hasnt been moved up too much from 2018. But I know my pods have been talking about more off days, dunno where they're coming from. Maybe the playoffs start later? Oh, and Opening Day for the Tigers was rained out last year. So that off day was helpful ...
I don't see how fewer games is going to solve that problem, unless you're talking about dumping a month or more from the season. And, if that's your premise, I hate it.
none of this shit will ever be unraveled, but it all started with the wild card. old man costas argument.
'Spose I will keep him on my IL until I'm forced not to, but that acquisition for my dynatsy team has not gone well ...
I pretty much ignore free agency. dblplay1212 or someone else can you tell me why the Yankees didn’t pursue Harper or Machado?
Adding Stanton last year made adding Harper unlikely. As for Machado, they were just cheap. They added pieces but spread money around rather than one big splash.
How many minor leaguers end up renting houses together, do you think? Also, if they're gonna be paid peanuts, housing seems like something they shouldn't have to cover.
Not sure how that’s any news. They still use host families to house players. We’re the worst nation in the world at developing talent in pretty much every sport.
No idea about that. In most cases even if they do get paid a lot of the guys still couldn’t afford what we determine to be adequate or even a cost effective, place to live when on the road for half the season.
And yes, I was pissed when the Royals announced a 4 PM first pitch then 30 minutes later (after I bought tix off SeatGeek) announced it wouldn’t start at 4 and they didn’t know if they’d play or not.
