The IC sleuths have discovered he recently started following a bunch of UNC's staff and some are saying it's already a done deal. His former teammate was one of the few bright spots on last year's team as a true fresman fwiw.

    Keep your fingers crossed guys

Impressive so far how he’s got most of the higher ranked DMV kids who left the area to transfer back

Assuming he gets this kid as well

Baldwin would have started at Ohio State this year after Fields' season-ending injury. Now he'll transfer again if either of the freshmen win the TCU job.

Tate martell is from Nevada, went to Ohio state and transferred to Miami. Logic has been thrown out the window.

Let me start off by saying I don't care either way or have a horse in this fight, but Justin Fields got his transfer approved and so did Tate Martell cause they were not going to see playing time, but the NCAA denies a backup his request cause he was not going to see playing time. The NCAA is a fucking joke, we have the same thing going on with Oliver Martin this year and I'm guess since we aren't a blue blood he will get denied. Just need to let every kid transfer once and leave it at that.

This was pretty well expected anyway. I think it would have given us 5 QBs on the roster anyway, seems like a lot.

Has the QB transfer bonanza resulted in starting jobs?

    The Blade

The NCAA’s transfer portal and the ensuing quarterback shuffle has been one of the biggest stories in college football.

Starter announcements have picked up in recent weeks with most teams opening their season this week. How are things turning out for the quarterback transfers?

Here is a look at some of the notable names this season and their standing on depth charts.
JARRET DOEGE (BOWLING GREEN TO WEST VIRGINIA)

    Verdict: Back-up

Doege was considered one of the top returning quarterbacks in the MAC before he decided to enter the portal in the spring. The NCAA granted him immediate eligibility at West Virginia, but Doege will not start because of...

AUSTIN KENDALL (OKLAHOMA TO WEST VIRGINIA)

    Verdict: Starter

Kendall, who served as back-up to Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray at Oklahoma, will be the successor to Will Grier in Morgantown. Kendall beat out Doege and Jack Allison, who started last season’s Camping World Bowl for West Virginia.

ROSS BOWERS (CAL TO NORTHERN ILLINOIS)

    Verdict: Undecided

Bowers played in 13 games for Cal, but struggled with thumb injuries the past two seasons. At NIU, Bowers is competing for the starting job with Marcus Childers, who started every game for the Huskies last season. Coach Thomas Hammock said he may head into the opener without officially naming a starter.

GUNNAR HOAK (KENTUCKY TO OHIO STATE)

    Verdict: Back-up

After playing in four games for Kentucky last season, the Dublin, Ohio, native decided to move back to his home state. There wasn’t much drama in the Ohio State quarterback competition, because of another transfer lower on this list.

TY STOREY (ARKANSAS TO WESTERN KENTUCKY)

    Verdict: Back-up

Storey, a graduate transfer, played in 11 games last season for Arkansas, including a 230-yard, two-touchdown effort against Alabama. Out of high school, he was the ninth-ranked pro-style QB in his class. However, Storey will start the season as WKU’s back-up behind Steven Duncan.

    JACK TUTTLE (UTAH TO INDIANA)

    Verdict: Back-up

The No. 8-ranked pro-style QB in the class of 2018 was granted immediate eligibility at Indiana, where he lost a position battle to freshman Michael Penix Jr., who also beat out last year’s starter, Peyton Ramsey. Penix was the 21st-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2018 class.

    BRANDON PETERS (MICHIGAN TO ILLINOIS)

    Verdict: Starter

Peters spent three seasons at Michigan and started as a sophomore. After the arrival of Shea Patterson, he slid down the depth chart and decided to leave as a graduate transfer for Illinois, where coach Lovie Smith named him the starter. He beat out a true freshman and a pair of redshirt freshmen.

    JOSH JACKSON (VIRGINIA TO MARYLAND)

    Verdict: Undecided.

Jackson starred in the Southeastern Conference Red Division at Saline, before going 11-5 as Virginia Tech’s starter. He broke his leg last fall and decided to transfer after the season. Jackson is expected to be named the starter by first-year coach Mike Locksley.

ALEX HORNIBROOK (WISCONSIN TO FLORIDA STATE)

    Verdict: Back-up

Hornibrook entered the transfer portal in a surprise move last spring after starting the past three seasons for Wisconsin, where he went 26-6 as a starter. But Hornibrook will begin this season on the bench at Florida State behind newly-named starter James Blackman.

BRANDON WIMBUSH (NOTRE DAME TO UCF)

    Verdict: Starter

Wimbush started 16 games at Notre Dame over the 2017 and 2018 seasons, before losing the job to Ian Book last season. He arrived at UCF in January and will get a fresh start as the Knights’ starting quarterback while McKenzie Milton recovers from a leg injury.

TATE MARTELL (OHIO STATE TO MIAMI, FLA.)

    Verdict: Back-up

Martell was considered by many to be the favorite to win Miami’s starting job after flashing glimpses of potential at Ohio State. But Miami first-year coach Manny Diaz went with Jarren Williams behind center in the opener against Florida. Most interesting, Martell warmed up before the game at QB and wide receiver.

    HUNTER JOHNSON (CLEMSON TO NORTHWESTERN)

    Verdict: Undecided

Johnson, a five-star recruit and the No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2017, is the highest-ranked QB prospect under coach Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern. He is competing against fifth-year senior TJ Green, the son of NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Trent Green.

    KELLY BRYANT (CLEMSON TO MISSOURI)

    Verdict: Starter

Bryant transferred to Missouri after losing the starting job to Trevor Lawrence four games into last season. He went 16-2 as a starter for Clemson. Bryant, a graduate transfer, will get one season in coordinator Derek Dooley’s QB-friendly offense.

    JACOB EASON (GEORGIA TO WASHINGTON)

    Verdict: Starter

Eason started as a freshman for Georgia and was injured in the first quarter of the season opener the following season, paving the way for Jake Fromm to take over. After sitting out one season, Eason has been named Washington’s starter, causing back-up Jake Heaney to leave the program.

JUSTIN FIELDS (GEORGIA TO OHIO STATE)

    Verdict: Starter

Fields, a five-star recruit, was granted immediate eligibly and last week was named Ohio State’s starter over Hoak. Considering Fields’ dynamic skill set and coach Ryan Day’s work with QBs, a lot is expected from the signal-caller. He has been consistently mentioned in preseason Heisman Trophy talk.

    JALEN HURTS (ALABAMA TO OKLAHOMA)

    Verdict: Starter

Hurts was recently named Oklahoma’s starter by coach Lincoln Riley, who helped previous transfers Mayfield and Murray win the Heisman. At Alabama, Hurts went 26-2, led the Crimson Tied to the 2017 national title and owns the Alabama career record for rushing touchdowns (23).
