I had no clue that guy was an analyst for UM this year until I looked up his bio after reading this tweet.
Arkansas St staff gonna be the most analytically inclined group in the nation with all those analysts
amazing they'd sign up to work for a HC who is gonna be out soon per the LSU fans on here AD/President are trash
Does it seem weird that Derek Mason is getting so much hype for DC jobs? He was fucking terrible at Vandy. Nothing he did was impressive. He didn't even recruit ok. He's long removed from being a DC.
The reason he got the VU job was because he coached at Stanford which VU wanted to emulate at the time and he was known for having a defense that could hang with Oregon. And CFB offenses have gone wayyyy away from that Oregon stuff and he hasn't kept up. His defenses set records for ineptitude at VU He's a nice guy who his players loved. But he wasn't a great recruiter and the on-field results were generally terrible. Gave up like 700 yards in a bowl game vs Baylor. Beat UTenn a few times but not like that's any kinda measuring stick these days
Our 247 site is reporting that we lead for landing Marcus Freeman as our next DC. They also mentioned #Texas Longhorns just jumped into the fray for him.
Is that really on him, though? Using miami as an example, it seems like their struggles are blamed on the DC. I don't think anyone would argue that manny wouldn't be a good dc again. Don't know his backstory, so disregard if he wasn't good in the actual dc role before becoming a hc.
We don’t have any leaks on the DC search. It’s all coming from other schools and agents. So no clue here.
He was a good DC at Stanford. But that was when they were loaded with the Harbaugh guys who aren't going to Stanford anymore. And CFB has changed a ton since then. He served as his own DC at VU for some of his tenure and I think the VU defense had the highest average points allowed per game in SEC history that year When he was hired at VU David Shaw did not give glowing reviews like you often see when assistants get hired. We all saw that as a red flag and then in his first game at VU he got boatraced by Matt Rhule and Temple while his team wore illegal jerseys that made us use timeouts to avoid being penalized for wearing them. He's incompetent, full stop
At first I thought this was the dude who took the cheap shot on Glenn Dorsey in 2007. But that was Chaz Ramsey apparently
Florida’s back-end overhaul of its defensive secondary is a step closer to completion. Sources tell FootballScoop the Gators are preparing to hire Wesley McGriff away from Southeastern Conference rival Auburn to work with the secondary.
yeah probably and no sorry your former football players are racist https://www.everydayshouldbesaturda...haps-he-was-just-doing-a-tropic-thunder-thing
i don’t think sark wants to keep him not because he’s bad just wants his own guy. he’s a good coach. don’t think he’s a great recruiter
#LSU Tigers ya’ll really offer Freeman $2.5- $3 million to be a DC? Or are these “Cincy” insiders wrong? that’s a big number that I doubt ND would match
hopefully for penn st fans it was herman not letting him call the offense he wanted because he sucked at texas last year
I think he’s a good coach that was micromanaged by Turtle Tom Herman. We’ll see how he does at Penn State. He gets $5MM for one year at UT and followed it up with the OC job at Penn State so I’ll say he did alright.
I'll take my chances with Yurcich after what we saw this year. Even with the losses of Brown and Cain it was uninspiring to say the least.
Yurcich is a good coach IMO, he was really good at Oklahoma State. I think Herman got in the way last season, and I still wouldn’t call offense their problem.
Arguably the biggest prize in the 2020-21 coordinator sweepstakes is close to finalizing a deal with LSU. Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that heralded Cincinatti defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman is expected to join Ed Orgeron’s overhauled staff in the same position and as one of the highest-paid defensive signal-callers in college football. Freeman’s an Ohio native, former standout player for the Ohio State Buckeyes and, after a brief professional career in the NFL, has carved an incredibly fast-rising coaching track. #LSU Tigers #Notre Dame Fighting Irish
I’d be very hesitant to hitch my wagon to O. That ship isn’t righting itself anytime soon, on or off the field.
ND seems like the obvious move for Freeman on a lot of levels but esp if he wants to get a B1G head job one day which I def think he’s capable of
