New Year, new thread. What’s your projected preseason top 10? 1. Clemson 2. Alabama 3. Ohio State 4. Georgia 5. Penn State 6. LSU 7. Oregon 8. Florida 9. Texas 10. Oklahoma
ND will likely be preseason top 10 with all they return. Whether they stay there or not is a different story.
Is Clemson losing that much? I think Texas is too high based on this season and new coordinators. I think Oregon and LSU are too high as they will both be breaking in new QBs. OSU may be too low with Fields coming back even with JK leaving early.
Think they’ll lose Etienne, Higgins, and Simmons at least. Not sure who else, but that’s pretty substantial.
We probably lose Tee Higgins, Travis Etienne, 4 starting OL, Isaiah Simmons, both starting safeties, possibly a starting corner, and a starting LB
True but think with Lawrence back the offense will still be fantastic. The Tide probably loses the same skill players with Jeudy, Smith and Harris all possibly leaving. It is splitting hairs just think Clemson should be ranked ahead of Alabama unless Bama has more players back than expected.
We sub OL in heavily throughout the year in every game so the backups have a lot of snaps. Will miss Simpson the most of the 4, but our backup center has been pretty bad at snapping this year. Jackson Carmen is the only remaining starter. From what it sounds like, I would expect Walker Parks to come in and be an instant starter. Possibly Tchio too.
think there's a good chance we sneak into the preseason rankings, I'd imagine VT/UNC will be the favorites in the gauntlet known as the Coastal
UCF/UNC should be a decent week 1 matchup with the two true freshman returning at QB. Our offense should be solid. Who knows on D.
wonder if someone like Purdue or maybe Nebraska looks to hire him if they have a down year next year with their current guys
Oregon opening with 16-0 NDSU and 13-1 Ohio State. Not a good time to lose 200 career starts on the OL and breaking in a new QB.
Never devine They would be a fringe top 25 team, theyve knocked off a few P5 recently but havent exactly played anyone good (Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State). We should win and to be fair it is probably a better warm up for Ohio State than say playing Portland State (we will still get our asses kicked by the Buckeyes).
We will let you know in a week. 4 players havent decided yet whether they are staying or going and we dont have an OC yet.
Agree with all of that but it seems like a no-win situation when playing FCS teams that are that good. Maybe things will be different now considering they dominated an entire decade. Arizona has them scheduled in a few years. They are going to not only lose but have their stadium completely taken over.
NDSU wouldn’t be a fringe top 25 team at the FBS level. They are a great program and annoying to play against but any P5 wins are bottom tier P5 schools from the B1G usually
Top 60? They didn’t play any P5 teams this year. JMU played one and lost to WVU for perspective. Would say they would be a middle of the pack Mountain West team like Wyoming or similar. regardless, I wouldn’t want to play them. Well coached and have a winning culture.
