i like beto and hope he keeps being active
but man nothing shows how out of touch the dems are than when his supposed friend he drove across america with who is an alleged moderate said he would still vote for trump over him
republicans aren’t your friends and it shouldn’t be forgotten. every single one of them is a vile ghoul
The big debate in Texas politics now is whether Beto is a net positive or negative for a campaign because he rules up the other side so much. It’s ridiculous but that’s actually happening.
it’s all happening because he spend three weeks canvassing in a trump +12 Houston suburb for a Texas house special election in January and his candidate lost bad and the chuds rejoiced in him being toxic due to his take muh gunz comments.
I’m sure he’ll be back out there soon. Flipping the Texas house is his stated goal though. It’s Gop +9 and the dems are forecasted to gain 7 seats right now.
Another libertarian EE kills my soul
she amended this to include vindman heading up defense
these people would have zero problem with trump if he just wasn’t so crass on twitter. brain worms
These people have brain damage
Slays? He beats Liz by 2.
Hayes the past week is well on his way to becoming a Bernie Bro. He's the only person who seems to agree with Sam Seder when he goes on MSNBC.
They all have framed West Wing posters hanging up in their homes
even more reason that liz should drop out and endorse if she truly believes in the progressive agenda
Cable news is bad but Hayes is great
Yeah, but she's also going to be throwing in the towel in a week or two because she literally cannot win a single state
she has no path to the nomination unless everyone else besides bernie drops out. so thus zero path
if she fights for the same things bernie does as has been claimed by many, she will drop out and endorse bernie after nevada.
I'm sure this has occurred to all of you already, but this is exactly how things went for Trump in 2016. People kept downplaying his victories right up until the moment he seized control over the entire party.
Which is why Bernie and Trump are exactly the same
i have been told the key is to stop trump so i would argue the best way to do so is to consolidate around the front runner to ensure unity. especially if that front runner shares your values and progressivism
the fractured and crowded primary and the media’s incapability to cover them are actually very similar
that nuance will be lost on idiots like the cuckster tho
Fwiw Meagan Day is good and that was a sarcastic tweet
I am on record in this thread saying Bernie has the best chance to beat trump and that seems more and more true now than ever.
that being said, I am getting more and more pessimistic about the D chances of victory in November.
Also I’m a dummy who thought Kamala had a real chance after her evisceration of Biden in the first debate so take all this dumb nonsense as some guys gut feeling (obv).
if we’re going to be stuck with Cheeto Mussolini for 4 more years at least give me a brokered convention.
Biden not quite dead yet and imo still has the best shot of the non Bernie's. Has to over perform in Nevada though and hope Bernie doesn't win by a lot
Starting to agree that BIden staying in is good, Bloomberg is going to absolutely cannibalize his votes.
Here are the changes to that poll btw (which isn't ranked on 538).
Hello yes I also like Mike for reasons
She hasn't endorsed him yet but man is she getting close. I didn't like her taking the donation earlier and got shit on for it, maybe rightfully, but that fucking sucks because it will 100% still influence the vote for our primary in Georgia.
What is it with these people endorsing a fucking republican. This is the end of times.
Bloomberg is a huge racist and is getting endorsements from black politicians and polling at 20% among people of color. Shit is crazy
ummm, some of these Democrats are essentially Republicans, particularly in cities that don't have contested general elections. DC for instance -- Muriel Bowser and her political allies (Brandon fucking Todd - my councilmember - comes to mind) are basically Republican-lite. Take huge money from developers, anti-living wage, love them some gentrification, big supporters of charter schools, etc.
Speaking of which:
Edit: removed like 4 "essentiallys"
This should be as disqualifying as “What’s Aleppo?”
Basically if you pay Ed Reed he’ll endorse you and he carries a ton of clout with the Alabama Dem party.
Of course CIA pete knows who the leaders of foreign countries are
But I thought if you combined the moderate vote it beats out Bernie
I can't decide which is more distasteful. Bloomberg trying to buy the Dem nom. or the thought of another billionaire oligarch as president.
1988 was never really close. Dukakis won the first 7 primaries/caucuses.
On Super Tuesday, Jackson won Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Virginia.
Dukakis won 9 states that day, including Texas and Florida.
The overall popular vote was 42/29 in favor of Dukakis.
The current race has much more potential to split if Biden can regain his footing, which isn’t looking likely right now.
apropos of nothing, Jackson's '84 convention speech was one of the great speeches in American political history. It makes me an old man now, but I remember where I was when I watched it, and who was in the room with me.
Edit: his 88 convention speech was great too
It's really creepy to watch all these politicians take Bloomberg's money for endorsements.
I mean, I'm sure it happens all the time with candidates making promises for cabinet positions or other wink-wink agreements for policies or programs that will benefit the endorser, but to see it done so blatantly and brazenly is just leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
We're watching a man with 60 Billion dollars buy his way to a presidential nomination and he's not even trying to hide it because he knows he can get away with it.
I mean people always talk about what would happen if the next trump was competent equally corrupt and had more resources. Isn't that kind of what this is?
I suppose, doesn't make it okay.
I don't recall Trump buying endorsements. If memory serves very few endorsements ever came to him in the primaries.
