there’s no way biden serves one term and kamala Harris runs completely unopposed in 2024.
Karen Bass getting some run lately. The way I heard an NPR pod describe her made me say to myself—is she the female, person of color, Tim Kaine? “Steady. Won’t say anything controversial. Very careful.”
Biden needs someone competent, who also has excitement around her. I’m ok with being called naive, but I trust “copmala” and Biden to be left enough to get realistic legislation passed if the Dems get the House and Senate.
Warren would be my top pick, but I feel like she’d have to be a front runner to be senate leadership when the opportunity arises. She’d be great and effective in that role.
Schumer is just 69, so odds are he runs for another term, but I imagine it’s going to be a helluva campaign against more progressive and younger challengers. AOC replacing him would be swell, but his war chest and her opposition to Wall Street makes me think that would be a very uphill battle.
I need a drink.
if you mean someone like Eric Swallwell might attempt a hail mary candidacy, then ok. But leaving aside the bad optics of trying to thwart a minority female, challenges usually happen bc you have profound policy differences with an incumbent (eg AOC vs. Crowley). In the run up to ‘24, Harris will pivot to protect her left flank by adopting a progressive platform (or at least profess to) and will have an enormous financial advantage. Those factors will likely scare away anyone serious.
People in Pete twitter think that's a real possibility. It isn't, Pete has taken on teaching a class at ND and written another book, so he is just waiting for something. I'm guessing something like Veteran's Affairs or Mission to the UN.
Let's all take this moment to remember that Pete is fucking terrible. Pete is garbage. Pete fucking sucks
No I had it right the first time
He was, after all, English.
I'm happy to honor Pete's contribution to the democratic party and make him ambassador to Malta.
Ag secretary, his name is literally father of poultry.
Head of CIA would be more appropriate
Think that job (and Ag Secretary) should go to someone more qualified
Pete should just stay in South Bend
Pete is certainly qualified he uhhhh has a failed run for Indiana state treasurer and a failed run for DNC chair and a failed run for President. And he wrote a book!
Secretary of the Navy.
You know we’re going to be cursed with hearing his name for the next twenty years
I'm sure there are more black people's houses he can tear down in Indiana
its gonna be great when trump loses and refuses to leave and nancy and biden say "sir you can't do that you must leave sir" and don ignores them and we just move on to the next nightmare
Don’t think you’re giving him enough credit for winning the hotly contested 2011 South Bend Democratic mayoral primary
Even Trump’s SecNavs have been more qualified
We can create a new Department of Health Insurance profitability and name Pete Secretary
cartoon man looking at butterfly
“is this a gay joke?”
Is there a federal dogcatcher?
Buttigieg dropped out at a very convenient time for Biden. As long as he does what biden wants, I’d imagine he will have a job waiting for him if biden wins. Could be an ambassador or a lower run job in Washington but I don’t think he dropped out without some assurances of having some role to play.
Displaced homeless people are our jam now...
give pete some cushy board position for notre dame or something and get him out of my life forever
I hope Pete transfers to hell
Its still a Catholic Unoversity and he is still gay
I’m sure Klobuchar thought that too and lol oopsie daisy no vp for you
I fell for the Pete grift at first
doesnt feel good
Pete "won" Iowa got a call from Obama and dropped out before Super Tuesday. That was literally unprecedented. Yall are super naive if you don't think he wasn't promised some sort of cabinet position. He's not going anywhere.
nice try don but you can't do that. justice has been served
I think I sent him $5 at the very start.
ya but have you seen his hairline recently? He is paying the ultimate price.
Pete for head of the Boy Scouts imo
"A merit badge is not just a badge. It defines the shape of our democracy, it's a defense against the divisiveness of our politics."
Huh? Kamala was the favorite for 2020 and the party very quicker shifted against that female minority after getting to know her and letting her talk. Why would you think the party wouldn’t do the exact same thing again? Just because Biden picks Kamala doesn’t mean that the electorate did.
Bad optics is picking a prosecutor famous for jailing black people at the high point of the BLM movement as VP.
I’m still sending Pete weekly donations
Agree with your last sentence that she’s a bad pick. But you’re kidding yourself if you think her being one of 2 dozen ppl in an open primary vs being a sitting VP is the same dynamic. How do you think we got stuck with Biden?
An outdated and ridiculous primary process combined with a global pandemic
The real answer is Obama not dropping him in ‘12, or even picking him to begin with.
I mean, I did like the memes.
But realistically, the DNC has generally failed
UK pollster taking a stab at USA elections for the first time I believe. Interesting to follow.
Still concerning to have only 85-90% committed in each state with those MOEs
I would guess that a big portion of that undecided becomes part of those that end up not voting.
