If Hulk is the #2 and all things point to be that being true. What’s the upside of removing Albon for Gasly on for Gasly to be demoted again.
Seb can’t drive when the car is loose in the rear. They had to redesign the Ferrari early on to work with his style. This year the rear is a problem and he’s garbage. Charles is embarrassing him every week because he can adapt to the car.
I was hoping if it was/is Hulk for 21 then he could get 5 races in now. winter practice will only be 3 days next season so every lap counts I think
Charles hasn’t gotten the credit he deserves for how awesome he’s been this year. That car is awful and he’s keeping it in contention
Reading more articles on the possible driver lineups... It feels like its possible Checo goes to Williams and George is out a seat. That's some fucked up shit. I believe in 2022 George will be the #2 to Lewis at Mercedes but for him to be out a ride next year so Williams can make money is a travesty.
Throwing my hat on the Checo to Red Bull wagon. Russell mentioned today that the rumors are coming from the Perez camp in order to force Red Bull’s hand.
Wolf represents Russell and Ocon. At this point Russell has to be the front runner for the second seat at Mercedes in 2022.
Yeah and I imagine that he would be better served spending a year at the Merc factory/testing/simulator instead of a year at like Haas in a crap car
This is such a great spot for him. That car is shown a lot of potential this year too. Happy for my guy, seems like a good dude
I dunno if he’s such a sure thing for that car if we’re honest. Bottas has proven he can handle being #2 to Lewis while still putting pressure on him, and getting great results. Unless people think Hamilton will retire when the new car comes in, I just don’t see why/how they’d go away from Bottas if he’s a solid second every year
Alpha Tauri - Albon Red Bull - Hulkenburg Alpha Romeo - Kimi + Schumacher Haas - Mazepin + Ilot Williams - Perez
I do wonder how much longer Lewis will do it. Personally I think you can build around Bottas though. He just goes out and does his thing. Sure he’s not a once in a generation talent like Lewis, but I don’t think George or Ocon is either. My guess is Lewis and Toto will have a final hurrah season or two and then Bottas will become the #1.
I just think Hulkenburg and Haas isn't likely to happen. He didn't seem interested last year and I don't see how that changes with the engine getting worse. I think Haas is looking for cheap/other commercial considerations. Hulk wants to be competitive, expensive, and doesn't bring any money. I just don't see how that works.
I had this convo with some family members about Lewis after he won on Sunday. He currently sits at 92 wins. you figure he wins 3 or 4 more this year. Next year he dominates again and wins 10 or 11 races. Let’s say he finishes 2021 season with 105 career wins before the new 2022 refs come into play. How many wins does he finish his career with. I set the over/under at 120 Both of my family members took the under because they believe the 2022 regs should slim the gap from the field to Mercedes and thus banking on things being more difficult. You guys over or under on 120 career wins?
Bottas isn’t a world champion caliber driver. And the #2 at Mercedes in 2022 is all about the next in line to take over from Lewis. Ocon and Russell are both represented by Totto and both are hyped prospects. Unless they somehow get Max my guess is Mercedes will need to make a choice between those two in 22. I think you underestimate how impressive the driving by George truly is. That’s the worst car on the grid by nearly a second each week and he’s been knocking on Q2 and scoring points almost every week as Latifi quality’s 20th and finishes last. I believe George is the guy and world title talent to take over at Mercedes. But at the end of the day Totto is making the call and it will be interesting when the dust settles who’s the choice.
2018 he won 11 2019 he won 11 2020 he has 7 with 5 races left 2021 should be a full 20 or 21 races and they have the dominate car. He’s got an amazing shot to be sitting at 105 before 2022 kicks off. He will be 37 at the start of the 2022 season. Let’s say he races till he’s 40 (Kimi is 41 and will be racing at 42 next season). can he win 13-17 races in 3 years with probably a superior car but maybe only slightly?
Damn that’s a perfect O/U figure in my opinion. It’s almost impossible to speculate. He’s been the best driver in the best car since 2017 (obviously was the great beforehand but over the past 3 seasons they’ve been on another level) With next years cars pretty much all being the same, it’s just unthinkable to see him get at minimum 10 wins. From what I understand, the new car’s aerodynamics are designed to work better in closer ranges to other cars. So it’s expected that the racing/fields will be a lot tighter allowing for more racing. If that’s the case you have to think that there’d be a lot more contact issues. Another thing that may come back to reality is the insane reliability of their current and previous cars. You’d think with a new car comes new headaches and mechanical issues not found on the current car. My guess is he’s around 105-109 after next year, and he does not get to 120. I think if the car isn’t as dominate, he’ll hang it up. Hell, part of me thinks he’ll hang it up before 2022. I hope he doesn’t cause I want to see him and Max really race each other, but I just see him not wanting to start more or less from square one again.
How much cash is Lance Stroll going to burn to keep his pissant son's racing career alive? Aston Martin Has a License to Burn Money ["https://www.bloomberg.com/view/arti...martin-has-a-license-to-burn-shareholder-cash"]
Let me clarify my reaction, I agree that it is completely realistic. It's insane to be placing the over under of a 37 year old driver at the equivalent of an all time great driver on its own. It's like Barry Bonds having a HOF career from 2000 on
Alfa Romeo to retain Raikkonen and Giovinazzi in unchanged 2021 driver line-up https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/...in-unchanged-2021.19pDOGCQr6fEivcPLGv4MZ.html I guess Shumi to Haas then?
Glad for Russell He is on the opposite side of the likability spectrum from Perez so glad to see him keep his seat. Things are falling into place nicely for Haas. They should be able to attract a lot of money for being the last of the musical chairs for paid seats
Ferrari pretty much picks that seat don't they? Or doest AR pick it and it just has to be from Ferrari's pool of development drivers?
I would think Perez/Schumacher makes the most sense for Haas but I don't think Perez would want to do that at this point in his career.
I think Perez is likable. Sure you can call him a pay driver (sounds like that money saved force India/racing point) but he’s more than earned his spot on the grid.
Ferrari makes the call at Alfa... Ferrari is also going to put Mick at Haas. My guess is whoever pays the most money for the 2nd seat will get it. Between Checo or the Russian kid. The other two driver academy kids at Ferrari are going to spend another year at F2. Even though the may be more talented then Mick and the Russian kid.
