Take all this Cubs content to the 2021 MLB thread since the Marlins ended your season already
Not sure who’s in there or how much they retained in terms of their group think tank. Pre 2020 astros would assign a value and move on. Who knows now?
Take deez nuts to ur mouth, bro
Cubs fans. What a trash bunch of human scum.
I think that's exactly what's going to happen, though, unfortunately--some team will offer him 5-6 years when Houston would rather do a 3-4 year deal. I think folks have long assumed that he wants to go home/get closer to east coast once he hits the market and Boston or New York were teams long mentioned for him, but now seeing the Nationals more. Plus, based on some of his interviews here locally this season, i think he wants to get away from the 2017 scandal that will continue to follow the team around. Sure, opposing fans will still remind him of it no matter where he signs, but not nearly the same as it will if he plays the rest of his career with Houston. And since he already has a ring (even if asterisked), I can see him going to the highest bidder and/or the most years, especially since he's already 31.
Feel bad for them, honestly
On behalf of the Nationals I would like to offer George Springer a 6 year, $300 million offer*
*$250 million deferred to years 2027-2282
I would think 4/$100m is the absolute floor there, and it's probably more like 5/$125M to get in the door.
That's some truly generational wealth right there
what am i missing here? remove inherited runners that eventually score and everyone’s ERA looks better. is the .75 run disparity drastically different than the average?
Area ace known for being left in the game one inning too many actually left in the game one inning too many
Can we please just win tonight?
Yeah, based on local media/radio and twitter, it seems like $25-30 per year is what it's going to take. Thus, seems like more people are focusing on trying to bring back Mike Brantley on a 2-3 year deal and pursuing another OF via free agency or trade (and also letting Reddick walk, of course), especially since Kyle Tucker appears to have now secured one of the other starting OF spots for foreseeable future.
sounds like area ace with a 3.50 postseason era when you remove inherited runners left in for a few too many innings
re-sign reddick you cowards
I love watching Tucker hit. And especially love that he’s a Tampa boy and Preston’s brother.
Ha, think they'll pass on that. Seems like a good dude and could see him signing a 1 or 2 year deal at a much lower figure in the offseason, but hopefully won't be anywhere in Texas ;)
Yeah, big fan of Preston, too, and seems like he may have overachieved athletically compared to Kyle (or at least Kyle had more natural talent, if that makes sense). He was a solid guy and was happy to see him having some success in the Korean league earlier this year and actually followed along for a while since we didn't have any games here at the time.
Kyle is definitely more athletically gifted. Preston was (is) just a masher. Nothing he does looks pretty but goddamn can he hit tanks.
Tim Timmons trying to make up for all the other umps’ zones being so huge?
if the rays blew a 3-0 lead would anyone care?
get it because they don’t have fans
Did Valdez just think the first out was the third?
It seems awfully inconsistent
God, we can’t hit.
The shift giveth and the shift taketh away.
Cheating ass Astros going under .500 and winning a title while down 3-0 in a series would be very 2020
CAN YOU FUCKING NOT
gonna be a busy remote night tomorrow with game 7 and cfb
I can’t imagine how tightly Ray butts will be clenched tomorrow
series is over. Rays can't hit at all and the pressure is now too much.
damn the rays are really going to do it huh
this is all my fault
I feel like Dusty could still do something idiotic to blow the series.
Guys, please stop.
What’s his deal?
I don’t think it was the bat’s fault, Mike
He had close to double digit 3-2 counts today, doesn’t conserve pitches at all
Rays way to go
Solid bat break over the knee. Don't see those too often, and that was a good one.
Rays about to be the second team ever to blow a 3-0 lead and do it to the ultimate villians. So 2020.
we're gonna need the Braves (assuming they finish the job) or Dodgers to fucking sweep.
He threw 82 pitches today.
the expanded playoffs showing how dumb it is, that may be a good thing I guess.
Who pitches for both teams tomorrow night?
he also would have been left in that game if it was a regular season game.
yikes keeps getting worse
Morton is on full rest for the Rays. They also have Glasnow on a bullpen day like they did to Yankees if they want.
McCullers for the Astros.
How much of this is fatigue driven?
