this could be posted every day during the off-season and I will like it every time
Sherman reporting that people around the league think Hill would have had to take a pay cut to stay. This ownership might be the cheapest one yet in Miami.
I dont know the ins and outs of what Hill did, but just at a glance it looks like the Marlins fielded a good team considering their payroll and the shape their farm was in until recently. It can't be just a money thing, right? They're hopeless if it is.
In fairness, Hill has been either GM or the head personnel guy there since 07, so he was also the guy who had their farm in that situation before the most recent tear down. I'm not sure he's good or bad. It was always weird to me they didn't just dump him when Jeter first got there if he wasn't their guy, but look back now it seems pretty likely the reason for that was they didn't want to pay two GMs by firing him.
Surprised LA is going with May. He's probably only going one inning but I think I would have gone Gonsolin/Urias for as long as they could go instead and left May for later.
roberts is gone if it backfires
I'm guessing Dave didn't make that call on his own
Urias and Gonsolin both struggle in the first. I don’t really trust May late a game 7
May seems as rock solid as anyone on that staff, short rest aside. And it's not like he threw a ton in game 5.
Who do you trust late in a game 7? Asking for reasons.
His youth. And his tendency this playoffs to get a little wild.
obviously if he is “on,” he is one of our top arms. But I’d rather have Brusdar, Treinen, Gonzales, Urias, etc. in the late innings.
They're going to have to pitch a first inning at some point in this game, in all likelihood.
But they might have a lead when they do.
I know Dustin May’s mom through mutual friends. Pretty cool he gets the start for a chance to win the pennant ~10 miles from where he grew up
Here’s to a good game of baseball!
He’s getting closer to the zone at least
Well looks like we have wild May
So this isn't optimal and I think teams need to review the idea of having these kids go into huge playoff games as openers. That mindset has to be tricky.
Sounds like lots of guys are gone
not a great start for the dodgers
Giving him 6 hours to prep is...not ideal
That hair isn’t even so bad it’s good it’s just bad
He’s got to fix the hair or the leg kick, both is just an untenable position
Not just that. You've got a guy who has been a starter his entire life warming up in the pen on very short rest for 1, maybe 2 innings. For a 23 year old kid that's got to be weird.
I'm not someone who is routine oriented at all and find myself unable to understand that type of stuff. But enough athletes say it matters to convince me.
really thought that inning was about to get away from him. great job to limit the damage to 1.
Thanks for the analysis Magic Johnson
i was going for the mp_22
“great start for the dodgers it was not”
I’m extremely biased because of the Nats’ history with starters and bullpens but I just hate the idea of playing to open the bullpen gate a bunch of times. Every time a guy comes out of the pen in the playoffs it’s a game of Russian roulette, I think you always have to go with your most effective option and ride him as long as he’s good, then play matchups.
Freddie got quite lucky
I don't have a huge issue for LA tonight since they have Gonsolin and Urias who they would need to count on anyway tonight. They're not one-inning guys you're counting on nine times. I just don't think starting May put him in a great position to succeed, even if the idea is "we like May better than those two and we want him against the top of the ATL order".
I swear Ozuna’s lippers have gotten bigger as the playoffs have gone one.
I have a pet theory that the bigger his lipper is, the better he hits.
Rally killer by Swanson there
Gonna have to disagree with an HOFer, but I don’t think it’s better for a team to give up homers instead of baserunners
Now pitching for the Braves
That's something Smoltz will just never let go of and it's going to be dumb every time. He just lacks self awareness when it comes to stuff like that.
We have a game
His explanation of Andruw Jones being the goat CF reminded me of when my dad said he didn’t believe Trout was great because he hasn’t seen him play much and pass his eye test
that’s some shit pitching
roberts isn’t holding anything back and i don’t blame him since his job is on the line tbh
classic Atlanta sports behavior
loser blood permeates the state
what in the actual fuck #Atlanta Braves
That’s some baserunning.
braves baserunning is you drunk?
Saw that coming, fucking moronic base running by Swanson
that’s quite possibly the worst base running i’ve ever seen
