Players gonna love him!
MLBTR says Soto is likely to be a Super 2 guy this winter. Seems like he's about 1 year away from either him signing the biggestt extension in MLB history, or everyone starting the clock to his FA.
I’m gonna take door number 2 :(
Maybe we can get him to switch to that agent who fucked Acuna and Albies
Some rebuilding team should just take on all these one-year reliever deals teams are scared to pay now and then reap the benefits at the deadline when teams stop being dumb. That Hand contract is basically a $6M investment in a really good prospect package you can get after the all-star break if he's healthy.
Hand or ODay will make a good Treinen replacement
I'm going to be annoyed if Hand makes it through waivers to the point where LAD or NYY have a shot at him.
Red Sox hopefully.
Article is from 2016, but still fun
the sox spending money now after dumping mookie a year ago would be hilarious
My team that I did zero research on going in...
First Base: Freddie Freeman
Second Base: DJ LeMahieu
Shortstop: Trea Turner
Third Base: Manny Machado
Catcher: J.T. Realmuto
Designated Hitter: Marcell Ozuna
Outfield: Mookie Betts, Juan Soto, Mike Trout
Starting Pitcher: Trevor Bauer, Shane Bieber, Gerrit Cole, Yu Darvish, Jacob deGrom
Relief Pitcher: Devin Williams
Seems pretty likely to be him, although I think the list of people they have interviewed so far is something like 15 people (not hyperbole). I don't think I've ever seen a team interview this many people for one job. My assumption has been all those interviews were basically them wasting time until Hinch could talk to them.
I’ve seeing selective morality from the LA set
Pretty embarrassing that two open slots are likely to be filled by a former manager/dinosaur and a former manager/cheater.
there are other options people.
What about that was selective? Instead, it appears Molly was stating there was plenty of blame to go around.
They are going to need to spend at some juncture. Hand really isn’t ‘spending’. Outside of him falling apart (not unusual for a reliever), worst case is not contending and having a valuable reliever.
Classic small-brained Houston fan
FTR Hinch was the fall guy, he did nothing wrong, he tried to stop them, hook em
Hinch is going to accidentally end up with a really bad internet connection that will unfortunately time out every time he's asked about cheating during his opening presser on Zoom.
Cubs have a bullpen full of nobodies. Hope they do it
I've seen a few say they may sign him for $5m, so $7.5m total with his $2.5m buyout.
Brewers declined Braun's option :((
I'm fine with bringing Gardner back to be a 4th OF and spell guys/start if someones hurt. Kinda over them sitting Frazier to play Gardy though.
Agree completely. Needs to be Frazier - Hicks - Judge with Gardner there for days off and the predictable IL stints.
Really happy my team is about to hire such a proud American
This is really sad. I hope you fear god.
Players should just go on strike now and get it over with.
angels will sign morton and taijuan walker, leave the bullpen unaddressed and call it a successful offseason
lol rays are so god damn cheap
looks like there will be a lot more names added to that list soon
And then a ton of non-tenders come December to join that list.
Al Leiter was talking this up yesterday as something he wants to see. I hate it.
That's a terrible idea.
Any sport with a series format should play home/away games. One of the great things about postseason baseball and basketball is the home crowds.
And baseball, especially, needs those moments where the crowd is either super anxious or explodes when something happens because there's so much dead time.
I see some Yankees outlets seem to think non-tendering Sanchez is something that could happen. I'm a well documented Sanchez hater and even I think that's ridiculous. He's gonna get maybe $6M in arbitration. It's not like they are deciding on a $20M team option. That's pocket change for them and however bad he has looked he still has elite potential.
